A 22-year-old man has been charged in the shootings at a Houston-area community college campus that left him and two others wounded. It seems he was another lawful gun owner gone bad. I wonder if anyone checked to see if he had a concealed carry permit. What do you think?
A statement from the Harris County Sheriff's Office identifies the suspect as Carlton Berry. Spokesman Alan Bernstein says Berry is charged with aggravated assault but remains hospitalized with wounds suffered in the shooting.

What do I think? I think I'll wait for actual confirmation of his status before I make a determination. I saw nothing in that story to say whether the shooter was a lawfull gun owner or not. You are always so fast with these judgments, Mike. Someone might think you have an agenda or something.
ReplyDeleteI started seeing the reports today that he was a criminal of some sort. Whether he was disqualified or not, I don't know. You do realize lots of criminals are disguised as lawful gun owners, the ones who just haven't been caught yet.
DeleteMight have been able to own a gun but as the head of the Houston DNC he was prohibited from concealed carry in the state of Texas.
ReplyDeleteSeems that Mr Berry is a shinning example of Democratic leadership

Actually, in the article, it said the shooter had been arrested and charged back in 2009 for theft and marijuana possession. That right there would keep him from legally owning a firearm.
ReplyDeleteOne of the questions asked on the form you fill out for EVERY gun purchase at a gun shop or gun show is...are you addicted to any drugs including marijuana or alcohol.
The article did say that the shooter had been arrested and charged for theft and possession of Marijuana in 2009. So he couldn't have been a legal gun owner.
ReplyDeleteOne of the questions asked on the form you fill out for EVERY gun purchase at a gun shop, including Wal-Mart or gun show is whether or not you're addicted to drugs including Marijuana or alcohol. I've filled two of them out recently so I know the question is there. They will call the ATF or FBI for a background check before you can even pay for the weapon.
Are you saying that having been arrested for pot is the same as being "addicted?"
DeleteUsing it is a Federal crime, regardless of how stupid the law is.
