Idaho Man Arrested in Connection to Accidental Shooting - Race and Appearance had Nothing to do with It

Local news reports

Twenty-one-year old Luis Sanchez was arrested around 10:30 Wednesday night and charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Clark County Sheriff Bart May says Sanchez and the 17-year-old minor had gotten off work around 4:00 Tuesday afternoon when he pulled a .22 caliber rifle out of the van, pointed the rifle which he was thought was unloaded towards the boy and pulled the trigger. The rifle fired and a round struck the boy.

The juvenile sustained non-life threatening injuries and remains at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

Sanchez was booked into the Clark County Jail and has a bond of $20,000.

  1. And the part about deliberately pointing the rifle at the teen and pulling the trigger had nothing to do with it, I'm sure.

    1. You guys do that kind of stupid shit all that time and rarely go to jail for it.

"[Us] guys?" I've never, ever shot anyone, and I seriously doubt Greg has either (and if he has, I have little doubt it was justified). Do you think maybe it's time for you to try to develop at least a nodding acquaintance with reality, Mikeb?

    3. You guys? Is that like those people? Proof, Mikeb, proof?

    4. Kurt, you're correct. I have shot no one. In fact, I've never drawn my guns in public, except at a shooting range.

    5. Right, Greg, which proves you didn't need the gun in the first place. Fear and insecurity led you to make one of the stupidest decisions you could make. Your chances of misusing the gun in some way, which you probably already have but would never admit, are greater than the chance that you'll one day need it to save your life.

    6. Mikeb, you're hopeless. You divide the world into two categories: the evil and the stupid. By contrast, I see many possibilities for human behavior. I also keep a fire extinguisher in my kitchen, even though I've never had occasion to use it, either. I wear a seatbelt every time I'm in a car, though, once again, I've never needed one.

Just as going for years without a serious illness or injury "proves" someone doesn't need health insurance, right Mikeb?

Your chances of misusing the gun in some way, which you probably already have but would never admit . . .

A new low for you, possibly. I am, of course, quite accustomed to you making accusations without any evidence whatsoever, but I'm not sure I've ever seen you make accusations without even any idea that there was any wrongdoing, or even what that hypothetical misconduct might have been.

Bad news, Mikeb--I don't think your meds are doing the trick.

    8. Mikeb, would you like to back up your assertions about me or do you withdraw them?

    9. Back up what? Take back what? That you probably have and a misuse incident?

Let's see, that could be something as mild as having muzzled someone even for a moment, or fingered the trigger when you shouldn't have or having forgotten you left a round in the chamber for a moment. Of course, you may have had a negligent discharge or you may have dropped a gun. Hell, for all we know you may have done something much worse.

No, I take nothing back. Anyone who owns a gun for any length of time is likely to have had one of these incidents, but just like your false-DGU shooters, they would never admit it.

    10. Thank you for admitting that you really want to disarm everyone.

  2. I'm pretty sure a white guy would have been just as quickly charged for what amounts to a drive-by shooting, Mikeb, but thanks for the chuckle.

  3. So you are unhappy when someone isn't immediately arrested in an accidental or negligent shooting, and when someone is arrested, you state with confidence that the charges will be reduced, or that the arrest is somehow racist.
The article states that the car they were in had an uncased loaded firearm in the back seat. And the kid picks up the rifle and hands it to the man by the barrel? Yikes!
