Michigan Man Shoots Himself in the Head Demonstrating How Safe Guns Are

Detroit Free Press

A 36-year-old man from Independence Township apparently shot and killed himself by accident while trying to demonstrate gun safety to his girlfriend after he had been drinking, authorities said.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at about 9 p.m. Sunday to a home on the 4400 block of Pinedale, near Sashabaw and Maybee roads, where the man’s girlfriend was performing CPR.

The girlfriend told authorities that the man had been drinking all day and was explaining to her that his three handguns are safe when they aren’t loaded, according to Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe. He demonstrated by placing the guns against his head and pulling the trigger.

  1. Well, he'll never do that again. Think of it as evolution in action....

  2. Wow, you people really miss that I WAS JOKING when I said put a loaded gun to your head and pull the trigger to show us how safe guns are.

    2. You are the stupidest person living who ever attacked another person on social media for being mentally incompetent. You're also a dick, if no one ever pointed that out.

  3. Throwing the booze into the equation with guns - no way can the result turn out good.

  4. What the gun nuts deny is how extensive the use of alcohol and gun ownership is. Add to the the people who own guns and use drugs. It's easy to see how I came up with the 50% idea.

    1. You mean the 30% idea that grew to 50%, and which you've hinted might grow to a larger %?

    2. Yes, Mikeb, it's easy to see: You like nice, round numbers that you make up.

    3. "You mean the 30% idea that grew to 50%, and which you've hinted might grow to a larger %?"

Please point out where I hinted it might grow, or be considered just another lying gun-rights fanatic. You're in good company around here so don't worry too much if you can't provide the proof.

    4. Well, you started at "10-30%" and then admitted that you had wildly exaggerated and that you were rightly criticized for it, reining it back to 10%

After repeating that enough, you raised the estimate to 35%--exceeding an estimate your archived posts still admit was wrong.

Eventually you moved on to saying 50% (rounding down from 71% for overlap between categories).

This history demonstrates that you claim whatever % you think you can get people to buy, but that's not the only thing that's hinted at growing the percentage. There's also this post:

In it, you claim that "Upwards of 50%" are unfit.

That's all I have time or interest in looking up, but there you have it--a pattern of increasing beyond what you have admitted was an upper limit and explicitly stating that more than 50% were unfit.

    5. You provided the answer for me. 71% rounded down to 50% could easily be called "upwards of 50%."

But the fact is, as you well know since you spent quite a bit of time looking through the archives in order to justify your lying accusation, that I happen to be quite happy with the 50% estimation of unfit but lawful gun owners. In order to find that one reference to "upwards of 50%" you must have seen dozens (there are actually hundreds) of references to a straight 50%.

So, I call you another gun-fanatic liar who thinks honesty is optional. You are in a battle for your rights, after all, so anything goes, right?

    6. Mikeb, I was hoping Anonymous would find the links so I wouldn't have to. As you just got shown, you started out at a lower number, and you've been evolving upward for a while. You've settled on 50%, though since that's not grounded in evidence, I have no reason to believe you won't go to 75% at some point in the future. You've joked about that at one point, at least.

The number doesn't really matter, of course, since as I said, you have no evidence in any case.

    7. Ah, so I'm a liar because I found, in a few minutes of using blogspot's poor search tool, examples of your previous growth of the percentage above numbers that you said were the ceiling, and because I found where you said that it would be more than 50%.

Had I had time to keep looking, no doubt I would have found more instances, but your writing isn't that interesting, and you'd have still called me a liar--more and more loudly as I presented more and more examples.

Gotta love it when proof of one's claim is somehow proof that one is a liar.
