You'd like a machinegun like the on Granny had

The Tommy Gun is an "all-American" gun. Think of all the gun nuts who would like a machinegun like the one their gran had.

That is if granny was Ma Barker.

A hat tip to Stu Bykofsky for getting this out of me.

  1. Laci, while they are fun to shoot, full auto fire actually results in fewer casualties with an untrained person. That is one reason that the military eliminated the full auto feature on their M-16/M-4 rifles and limited it to three round burst.

    1. When did they do that? Was it after Vietnam?

  2. You're right, Laci, I would like one, though feeding the thing would rapidly run into dough. But there's no good reason for them to be so heavily restricted, as Sarge points out.

    1. They were the weapon of choice of the murderous gangs of the prohibition era. Plenty of reason for restrictions.

    2. The misuse of something by criminals is no cause for taking that thing away from good citizens.

Is that what he said? I didn't think so. I think you see what you want to see, Greg.

    4. It's not just criminals. Something you deny even in the face of certain evidence.

    5. Mikeb, did you read what he said about the full-auto feature?

    6. Many "tools" of criminals are illegal for law abiding citizens to buy, or posses.

    7. I read what he said twice now and there's no way you can get this out of it.

He may very well believe there's no good reason to restrict them, but that's not what he said in the above comment. When you said "as sarge points out" you were projecting your own twisted ideas onto him.
