A 43-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of his 12-year-old daughter during a hunting trip.
Jose Enrique Lefebre-Toro was arraigned Thursday in 91st District Court in Sault Ste. Marie.
Shellsea was killed Sept. 21 when a rifle accidentally fired from the front seat of a vehicle she was riding in on Drummond Island, about 50 miles southeast of Sault. Ste. Marie.
The rifle was not in a case and the safety was off.
Authorities have said the girl was in the back seat with two adults and another child.
