Republican Response to the Torture Report

The Senate Democrats say we tortured some people.

  1. And then there's this despicable Democrat that seems to have trouble deciding on whether he should resign or not.

"Democratic Virginia state delegate Joseph Morrissey, who reached a plea agreement for charges relating to a sexual relationship he had with his 17-year-old office assistant, is yet to decide whether he will resign or commute to work from jail."

"The 57-year-old Democratic representative for Henrico county was sentenced to 12 months in jail with 6 months suspended for charges of “contributing to the delinquency of a minor,” according to a report in the Richmond Times-Dispatch."

"The special prosecutor assigned to the case also revealed on Friday that the girl is now pregnant, and that the child is “perhaps” Morrissey’s.
However, Morrissey maintains that the allegations are false and that the evidence against him, such as naked pictures and explicit text messages, was planted by a jealous friend of the girl who hacked Morrissey’s cell phone."

Of course, once the baby is born, the perhaps will become either yes or no. Considering this guys history, I'm a bit surprised that DG hasn't mentioned him in regards to his behavior,

"Prosecutor William Neely said back in 2011 that Morrissey “completely lacks any moral compass” and employs “notoriously unethical practices.”
Neely has a lot of material to back up his characterization."

"As Richmond’s prosecutor in 1991, Morrissey punched a rival attorney in the face and wound up in jail. Two years later, he was indicted on a bribery charge for reducing charges in a rape case in exchange for a $25,000 payment to the victim. The charges were dropped, but his law license was suspended.
He again had his law license suspended in 1998 and was put in jail for 90 days for improperly speaking to reporters during a drug case.
He got into another fight in 1999 and was sentenced to 300 hours of community service. He tried to fake the number of hours he served, and was given another 90 days in jail, before finally being disbarred.
He then practiced law overseas in Ireland and Australia before authorities discovered he had been disbarred, and he came back to Virginia, where he was elected to the General Assembly in 2007.
Morrissey regained his law license in 2012 despite a unanimous recommendation by the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board to deny his application."

And then as the article shows in the photo they used, he seems woefully unable to safely hold a firearm.

"Morrissey took an AK-47 rifle onto the floor of the general assembly last year as a prop during an anti-gun speech.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D.) said on Saturday that he will not support Morrissey should he decide against resigning from the General Assembly."

    1. Got to love the way this gun loon compares apples to oranges and then claim it's the same. Typical dishonest lying gun loon.

  2. Since he is a democrat, he should definitely resign. If he had been a republican, like Mark (Are you rock yet?) Foley, it probably would have been okay to let him keep his job.

    1. Well FJ, apparently he is going to resign, but what happens next astounds me,

Morrissey is now in a work-release program that allows him to work as a legislator and lawyer by day while spending nights in a county jail.

"Last week, Morrissey said he would resign from office. But, even as he spends nights in jail, he declared he would try to return to his seat by entering the Jan. 13 special election to fill it."

    2. Well, thought I'd throw in an update, Morrissey has apparently won the special election for the seat he resigned from. As the old saying goes, the people have spoken, even if you don't like the message.

"RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A state lawmaker who resigned his seat following a sex scandal involving a teenage employee won it back during a special election Tuesday.
Apparently plenty of voters in Joseph D. Morrissey's Richmond-area House of Delegates conviction were OK with his conviction in the scandal involving his 17-year-old secretary, whose nude photo was found on his cellphone and allegedly shared with a friend. Morrissey has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, saying his phone was hacked. The young woman, who denies they had sex, is now pregnant.
In unofficial returns, Morrissey defeated Democrat Kevin J. Sullivan and Republican Matt D. Walton by a comfortable margin. Morrissey won 42 percent of the vote, compared to 33 percent for Sullivan and 24 percent for Walton."

I heartily recommend reading the article I cited to be entertained by their coverage of the election which had me wondering if Maury Povich is going to have the girl on his show to reveal who the father of the child is. (She still aint saying)
