A San Bruno man accused of shooting up his neighbor’s empty car with an assault rifle while yelling about somebody harming his family had several other weapons inside his home along with a National Rifle Association membership card, according to prosecutors.
George Joseph Azich, 61, was arrested the night of Aug. 13 after firing an assault rifle three times into his neighbor’s parked car. That neighbor was on vacation but others reported him yelling about someone harming his wife, daughter and grandchildren.
It’s unclear if Azich believed that neighbor was the person he blamed, said District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
Azich allowed police to search his home and they reported finding another assault rifle, two other rifles, a variety of ammunition and the NRA card.
Prosecutors charged Azich with eight felonies including reckless discharge of a firearm, being a felon in possession of an assault weapon, firearms and ammunition.
It's not illegal to be a member of the NRA, so why did the police take a membership card into evidence? Anyone can be a member, though unlike the NAACP, the NRA doesn't offer a discount to people in prison.

Greg, you are correct, this did take place in California. The land where gun control laws are causing a rapid drop in crime. I'm sure that soon there will be legislation proposed to take care of this unforeseen problem of felons owning guns.....oh, wait....

George is a father,grandfather,and good friend too many folks.He is a decorated for valor Vietnam veteran,and has done his time in our service.His.."Felony",was a bad marriage that got out of control.One time.,There was not a history of violence,or abuse in the relationship,and it ended amicably.He doesn't make,nor does he require,excuse for his past.I have known him for over 35 years,to be a loyal friend,and good man.He messed up here,no doubt,.He would be the last to deny that...so..who are you.,
