Most Americans prefer that shops and restaurants forbid guns, a new HuffPost/YouGov poll found.
According to the poll, 55 percent of Americans prefer that retailers and restauranteurs don't allow guns, while only 32 percent prefer that they do. The poll found a partisan divide, with a no-gun policy preferred by Democrats 72 percent to 19 percent, and by independents 48 percent to 34 percent. Republicans said they preferred establishments that allow guns 50 percent to 41 percent.
One problem the free market will take care of. There are many more people who do not want guns where they eat in public. These businesses will not chance losing their profit over a minority issue, especially when common sense and manners say you don't bring your gun to the dinner table.

DeleteYes, its worked just fine so far.
It's turning on gun loons because of the absurdity and stupidity, which just goes to show the public will bring sanity back to the public display of guns and businesses will follow their lead.
DeleteThis is a decision that each venue gets to make. The majority, at least in Minnesota go with citizens with permits being allowed. There is even an app out there that documents businesses that post that they don't allow firearms.
ReplyDeleteIn the Brainerd/Baxter area there are four venues listed, though one cant legally post. Permit holders are actually quite conscientious about obeying the law.
It's an interesting breakdown by political affiliation. You guys love to deny that gun-rights is the thing of Republicans, but there it is again.
ReplyDeleteOpen Carry laws have been pushed for by a small minority, but this is a new frontier for gun control advocates. I think this tactic will WORK. And IS working. It is dividing the gun community as well. Forcing pro gunners to make arguments that anti-gunners have been making for years.
ReplyDeleteI will not patronize an establishment that allows ammosexuals to fondle their love objects while I eat. Disgusting.
