An Oklahoma man was fatally shot during a confrontation with two state troopers who were trying to rescue him and his brother from rising floodwaters on Friday, but the man's wife is questioning the troopers' account.

The two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers responded to a stranded motorist call near Tulsa at about 9.30pm on Friday and found Nehemiah, 35, and Brandon Fischer, 40, with two vehicles trying to move one from a roadway amid fast-moving waters, police say.

Police hold that a physical altercation ensued and a trooper fatally shot Nehemiah in defense of himself. But Nehemiah's wife, Laura, says she can't picture that happening, FOX reports.

Nehemiah was pronounced dead at the scene and Brandon was arrested for assault and public intoxication.

  1. "A video released Monday by Oklahoma Highway Patrol shows Fischer, an associate pastor at a local Tulsa church, pushing a trooper moments before he was shot on Friday."

I imagine more will come out as the investigation progresses. Sounds like the assistant Pastor wasn't a friendly drunk.

    1. Not sure the tox report has been released yet has it SS to determine whether he was drunk or not...Im not sure that I see it as the deceased pushing the trooper but possibly trying to defend himself from the troopers raising his arms toward the deceased then losing footing in the water in other word a big misunderstanding cop thought guy was attacking guy thought cop was attacking guy ends up in morgue ...also not understanding why the trooper chose to be so aggressive prior to the physical altercation...looks like he needs to be retrained or permanently desked....The idea that cops need to try to intimidated people to show their authority is revolting to me and one of the central problems with the relationship between law enforcement and their employers

You are correct George. It will take some time for those results to come out so we don't know for sure if it was a night of bar hopping for the brothers, or if the deceased was the designated driver.
There was apparently a firearm in the mix also, though no details yet as to whether it was carried or in their truck.

“A handgun was found,” he told the Guardian. “I can’t verify whether it was being brandished but the deceased individual did have a handgun … the investigators are still trying to determine how many shots were fired. We know there was more than one but an exact number, I don’t have that information available yet.”

    3. I figure the guy was drunk and panicky about the flooding and was telling the cop to fuck off when the cop told him what to do. Shot for disobedience, like many before him.

  3. What a beautiful lady.

I'm not sure if it's fair to say, "Shot for disobedience."

Where could a supposed man of God, no matter how fucked up, have got the idea not to trust the Oklahoma State Police in a flood emergency?

Where could anybody have got an idea like that, not to trust the first responder?

Police officers are trained to deal with drunks. These boys had something else going on.
