Sweet. California is about to get a whole more gun friendly. Minors being able to buy guns without even notifying the parents? That's a bit much for me, and I'm one of those "gun rights fanatics".
I'm pretty sure this guy doesn't want guns and abortions to be treated equally. He wants one to be treated with liberty and the other to be treated with distain. He just varies from social conservatives on which ones. And why does he only want to see the men who buy guns treated this way? I guess sexually violating women would be a little to rapey for his liberal sensibilities.
Or here's a thought. We could instead stop restricting women's reproductive choices, and treat the Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the individual to keep and bear arms as the shall not be infringed right that it is.
Everybody (except the hyper-authoritarian nutjobs) wins.
One big difference: The woman wanting an abortion has already shown she is irresponsible, not capable of making good decisions and is reckless by having an unwanted pregnancy.
All you have to do is sell it to the voters. In some states, the process isn't to far off of what is described. New Jersey, DC, and New York City come to mind. Even more so if you're presumptuous enough to want a carry permit. The problem Mike is that unless I miss my guess, pretty much all of your commenters here aren't into the restrictions on abortion that Mr. Walker brings up. It is a pretty fair comparison though in what could be termed reasonable restrictions. Everyone seems to have no problem wanting to push the definition of reasonable to the limit when it comes to gun laws. But rail at the slightest restriction on a woman's right to chose an abortion. When the gun rights advocates do that, we're called unreasonable in not willing to agree to "common sense" restrictions. In fact, I hear the common sense thing bandied about by the pro-life folks a lot. My personal solution as a counter offer to Mr. Walker would be to agree to remove every restriction to both individual rights. Every. Single. One.
Mike, Mr. Walker is the one taking the debate to ridiculous levels. Its not too unlike those that want to limit possession of firearms to being able to keep muskets. Its a parent's solution. You find two kids fighting over their toys, in this case, gun laws and abortion laws, you take the toys away from both. Now they have nothing to fight over.
Well you do have the fact that every single abortion ends up with at least one human killed while a gun purchase does not necessarily lead to the same.

Is this new info? You're joining the most extreme of fanatics now by calling for no restrictions, none?

ReplyDeleteI mean, no woman getting an abortion has killed a room full of people in seconds, right?
ReplyDeleteNo, but she has killed a womb full of people... :/
Haha
DeleteI didn't take that as a joke. In fact it's really a sad reality.
