A Montana man is facing up to 20 years in prison after he shot and killed a 3-year-old boy in a game of “gun tag.”

Lonato Moran-Allen, 3, was playing with a toy gun Wednesday night when he pretended to shoot 26-year-old Galen Hawk. Hawk told investigators he didn’t know his .380 handgun was loaded when he picked it up and returned a shot, fatally striking the boy. He attempted to do CPR on the boy, but he later died at a nearby hospital

A Milford man accidentally shot his friend through the thigh on Wednesday while he was cleaning his brand new .40-caliber pistol, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 4:22 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Lake Street. The 21-year-old Milford man was cleaning his handgun, and unbeknownst to him, a round was in the chamber, said Bellingham Lt. Kevin Ranieri, the Daily News reported.

"I can’t explain why there was a round in the chamber," Ranieri said.

The gun discharged, with the bullet striking a 23-year-old Bellingham man in the upper thigh and exiting through his right buttock, Ranieri said.

"At this point it appears to be accidental," he said.

EMTs first called for a medical helicopter for the injured man, but the blustery weather made it too dangerous to fly. Instead he was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

According to police, his injuries were non-life-threatening, and he has since been released.

As a precaution, police confiscated the Milford man’s handgun. He received his license to carry from the Milford Police Department.

Indiana Man Charged in Accidental Shooting Death of a Child

Felony charges have been filed against a local man in the accidental shooting that killed a Greensburg teen. 

Jason L. Forshee, 34, was arrested and charged Friday with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a Class A felony, and dangerous control of a child, a Class C felony. 

Craig A. Roberts, 13, was accidentally shot at his home on North Carver Street on the afternoon of March 11 when a sibling picked up an M4 assault rifle that authorities allege Forshee had left unattended. 

The sibling pointed the rifle at Craig in the living room of the home. The weapon discharged, and a bullet struck the teen in the chest. Craig died at Decatur County Memorial Hospital that evening. 

Court documents state that Forshee told police he was cleaning the weapon and had removed the magazine. He was unaware a bullet was in the chamber. 

Forshee told police he could not explain how the bullet was in the chamber. He was out of the room approximately 10 to 15 seconds, he said. 

A short time before the shooting, Forshee had shown the rifle to a plumber at the home. The 6-year-old asked to see the weapon, and Forshee handed him the gun, according to court documents. 

A child visiting the home shared by Amy Roberts, Jason Forshee, Craig and his two siblings March 11 told police that the 6-year-old had pointed the same rifle at her and another child through a laundry room window that day. 

Interviews with a child and Craig's mother indicated Forshee had previously let the 6-year-old hold the weapon. Allowing the child to hold the firearm and failing “to make reasonable efforts to prevent the use of that firearm” constitutes the charge of dangerous control of a child, authorities said. 

Minnesota Man Injured Himself in Negligent Gun Incident - No Charges

A 33-year-old Brainerd man was treated at a hospital Thursday for injuries he suffered after he accidentally shot himself with his pistol.

At about 4:52 p.m. Thursday, Brainerd police officers responded to a report that an adult male had accidentally shot himself in the hand at the Tony Powers Designs Tattoo & Piercing business in the 200 block of South 10th Street in Brainerd.

Officers arrived and learned that 33-year-old William Anderson of Brainerd was suffering from a gunshot wound to his left hand. Anderson and witnesses reported they were talking about firearms and Anderson removed the gun from a holster he was wearing so he could show another person the gun. Anderson stated he thought he had rendered the gun safe. Anderson told authorities that he was having difficulties reinserting the magazine back in it and was trying to push the slide from the barrel end when the gun discharged into his left hand. The firearm involved was a .40 caliber Glock pistol. No one else was injured.

Jacob Travis McDaniel, 20, reportedly took the clip out of the gun he used to slay the 16-year-old girl before pointing it at her chest and pulling the trigger. However, the little numbskull didn't check the chamber. It's a pretty universally known fact that there is usually "one in the chamber" when it comes to handguns, so either this guy is a complete nincompoop, or this accident wasn't as accidental as everyone is accepting it to be.

The situation reportedly took place when McDaniel was showing off his guns, undoubtedly a happy new gun owner who had not been given the proper gun owner education that he should have been required to have before even operating a gun, much less owning one. It's reported that he wanted Aubrey to hold the handgun that ended up killing her, but she refused -- wisely declining because she felt uncomfortable. Jacob McDaniel then reportedly took out the clip, aimed and fired.

"What just happened?"

According to the ABC report, the young idiot gun owner is being charged with reckless homicide.  I'm not sure what the author of the above article wants, first degree murder, maybe?

Hidden Criminal in California Shoots Himself - Could Face Charges

A man accidentally shot himself outside a mall in El Cajon late Saturday night, police confirmed.

Sgt. Maxwell says a man in his early 20s was in a parked car outside the mall’s Bob's Big Boy Restaurant with at least two friends when he began messing with a handgun and accidentally shot himself in the hand and leg.

Sgt. Maxwell says the bullet went through the man’s left hand and then struck his leg, leaving large amounts of blood in the vehicle. 

Officials believe the man didn’t realize there was a bullet in the chamber of his weapon.

Sgt. Maxwell says officers recovered the gun, as well as two full magazines inside the car. Alcohol was also found inside the vehicle, though police could not confirm whether alcohol played a role in the accidental shooting.

Sgt. Maxwell says the man did not have permits to carry a gun in public. As a result, he could face charges of carrying a concealed weapon, pending the ECPD’s investigation.

Accidental Shooting of Sister - Big Charges in this Case

Aysheh and his sister, Nawal, were alone in his bedroom in the 4800 block of West Wolfram Street at about 9:10 a.m. Saturday when he showed her a .380 caliber handgun that he said he had “found hidden on the street,” Assistant State’s Atty. Yulia Nikolaevskaya said.

Aysheh took the clip out of the gun, saw that it was empty, put it back and pulled the trigger, Nikolaevskaya said.

“The gun went off and the defendant saw his sister fall to the ground,” Nikolaevskaya said. While he picked her up and carried her out of the house, their other sister called 911 and then hid the gun in a dog food bag in the basement, the prosecutor said.

He was a criminal and gang member, a guy who'd already had a gun conviction, and he still didn't know about the one in the chamber?  How could that be?

Well, when you're dealing with lowlifes you shouldn't expect them to know any better. It's not like lawful gun owners who are almost always safe and responsible, like this one and this one.

What's your opinion?  What can explain the phenomenon of "forgetting the one in the chamber."  I honestly can't understand it.  An absolute novice with guns should know this.
