Midland, Texas Cop Uses Excessive Force

Basically it's like this: A domestic abuser has a 2-by-4. The cops have guns. When it's all over the guy is dead and one of the cops has minor injuries. Doesn't that sound like excessive force to you?

The caller said that a 34-year-old male was causing a disturbance with a weapon. Two officers arrived shortly after, and the male attacked the police officers with a 2-by-4-inch piece of lumber. Officers, according to MPD, suffered minor injuries.

When one policeman was unable to remove the man off the other officer, shots were fired. It is not known at this time if both officers fired, but both are considered part of the shooting since they are directly involved.

  1. A 2x4 is not exactly a wet noodle. You could receive permanent brain damage with a simple blow to the head. Or, like Derrion Albert, you could end up dead.

Sounds like a good shoot to me.

  6. Mike - the question you should be asking is why the guy was beating up a police officer with a wooden club?

Anything that occurs after that is the fault of the criminal.

  7. Again, MikeyB has not a single concern about the guy, that thought that taking a 2x4 to another human being was the right thing to do.

Nope not in good ole Mikeys house, yep it was AOK for Mr. Lumberjack to start clubbing another.... this it the mental defectiveness of the gun-control left....... as long as Mr Carpenter does not use a gun the world is alright.

  8. No, I do have a big concern about someone using a 2X4 on another, but that doesn't necessarily mean the guy should be shot to death. That's all Im sayin'.

Jim, I thought I was the one pushing shared responsibility? Now you want to blame the criminal for what the cop does, even if the cop acts badly or unnecessarily?

  9. He never used a weapon on either of the officers. He did resist arrest and when they finally got him up agains this truck, the male officer was doing the right thing by pulling the suspects arm behind his back to cuff him. Meanwhile the female officer was hitting him in the back of the head with what looked to be a flashlight ot baton. When the suspect knocked the flashlight out of her hand to keep from being hit, she drew her weapon and fired 4 times, hitting him 3 times.....in the back....while the other officer was still holding him. The few people that witnessed all this, including his girlfriend, were held back from the location to give them time to come up with a good story and grab a 2x4 that was blocking the wheels of the truck he was up against when murdered. They let him lay there for 30 minutes without administering any sort of aid. The male cop rolled him over to check his pockets, then carefully rolled him back over to the same position and let him bleed to death. Word of advice to officers wanting to use excessive force....make sure people are not watching through their window from across the street.

  10. Rich, Thanks a lot for that, what sounded like a first-hand account. That's why I post these stories. May the guilty parties be brought to justice.
