Curry Todd--Sponsor of Tennessee guns in bars

Thanks for this tip from SouthernBeale:
Tennessee state Rep. Curry Todd, a lead sponsor of a law allowing handgun carry permit holders to bring guns into bars, has been arrested on charges of drunken driving and possession of a gun while under the influence.

Police say in court documents that the Collierville Republican was pulled over in Nashville late Tuesday. He allegedly failed a roadside sobriety test and refused to take a breathalyzer. A loaded Smith & Wesson 38 Special was found in a holster stuffed between the driver seat and the center console.

SoBeale also points out that:
Rep. Curry Todd is the Tennessee State Chairman for ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), the corporate-funded organization writing all of this wingnutty legislation that has people protesting in the streets.

Rep. Curry Todd, a true representative of the people!

  1. Of course, it "must" be pointed out that Jon C. Sullivan (Linoge) and SayCarbuncle are big, big fans of Rep. Todd.

There will be spinning like one rarely sees on this issue.

  2. I really don't know what kind of spinning can really be done on this one.

Come now. Gunloons are renowned for spinning. Here are some possible spins:

"What about Ted Kennedy? He killed more people than I have with my gun."

"Rep. Todd was for carrying guns in bars--Todd was arrested in a car."

"Sobriety tests are highly misleading. Only NRA-approved sobriety tests should be admissable."

"The 2A doesn't say you can't be drunk."

"Obama is a moooslim. Where's his birth certificate, huh?"

    "Liars!"

"Freedom doesn't disappear after you've had 20-25 drinks."

  4. Forgot a few:

"Laws against drunk driving and gunloonery unfairly burden drunken gunloons."

"Americans must always be vigilant against UN efforts to enslave us, even as we swill Tennessee bourbon."

I'm sure Jon C. Sullivan (linoge) will write an 18,000 word post using 27 references to "Firefly." It will refer to "hoplophobes" around 45 times. It will call non-gunloons "liars" about 114 times. No sentence will contain less than 27 words. There will be 6 graphs, none of which show what Sullivan claims. "BWWWAAAHHHAAHA" will be utilized 12 times; there will be 29 euphemisms such as "frakkin'" or "gorram."

  7. FWM: I know all the gunloon excuses, dodges, deflections and rationales.

    Some more:
"You know who else was against drunkeness? Hitler. (Options include Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao)"

"MADD is funded by George Soros. Or the Joyce Foundation. Or both."

"Todd was merely conducting research into acceptable levels of intoxication while driving and carrying."
