Joe Arpaio, America's Toughest Sheriff and Its Most Racist

  1. Mikeb, how many times have we heard you say that only cops can be trusted with guns?

Do you still advocate that position?

  2. In the interest of full disclosure, RT is Russia Today, an English-language Russian television service. That goes to explain the attitude of the commentators, but let's compare America's record on human rights with Russia's.

    1. Greg, you should drop the jingoistic nonsense. The US has not records to be proud of anymore.

    2. There's nothing jingoistic about observing the source of this commentary. That man is a paid agent of a foreign power. You show us videos from RT now and then, and this time, I looked into what that is.

Why does it matter? The commentary is presented as is, but it's opinion, not neutral information. We have the right to know what may have influenced that opinion.

    3. Yeah, you know what influences that opinion, thinking. You should try it. Or, is your opinion that Sheriff Joe is a prince of American ideals?

    4. I'm way ahead of you, having been thinking for a long time now. You just don't like the conclusions that I've come to. Of course, you're the one who always decides thing on how you feel, so you have little room to talk.

When it comes to Arpaio, I'm neutral, and I'm certainly not going to make up my mind one way or the other just because some commentator tells me what to think.

    5. How could you possibly be neutral on a guy like that? Take a stand, Greg. Certainly this "russian" commentary is not the first you're heard of America's toughest sheriff.

    6. Mikeb, I don't live in Arizona. I don't face illegals crossing the border, killing American citizens near the line and committing other crimes. I also know that coddling criminals, whether aliens or citizens, doesn't work. In addition, I don't trust Eric Holder or his Justice Department to conduct a fair investigation. That's the state of affairs that politicizing Justice has come to, and it goes back a long time. We'll see where this goes, but I suspect that a lot of the anger comes from the fact that Arpaio doesn't sing out of the left-wing hymnal.
