Japanese Mafia Responsible for Two Gun Murders in Two Days

Opinione

Japan Daily Press reports the latest incident involving the yukuza in the southern island of Kyushu.

The head of one of Japan’s fishing unions was shot dead on Friday in the southern city of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. This was the second fatal gun-related incident in as many days in a country that is not used to violent crimes that involve firearms.

  1. Must I remind you that Japan's annual number of suicides about equals our number of gun deaths?

    1. 33,000 gun shot deaths in America. I'll trade their gun shot deaths any day. But you gun loon kill lovers would rather have all these gun deaths. Sick, criminal minds.

    2. Greg, why would you even want to remind me of that. A dozen times I've explained to you why Japanese suicides are not comparable to anything American.

    3. That's because you care only about gun deaths. The total number of deaths due to causes other than natural is more important, but it doesn't suit your agenda.

    4. Apples and oranges. A diversion to our problem. Diversions and changing the topic seem to be your best efforts.

    5. Deaths are deaths. Japan has as many suicides, more or less, as we have gun deaths. That is relevant, since it shows that gun control doesn't stop unnatural death.

    6. That's a twisted point coming from a guy who says suicides should not be counted in the total number of gun shot deaths in America. Every time the 30,000 number is bought up to you, you always say "half of those gun shot deaths are suicides" like suicides don't count as a gun shot death.
How many gun shot deaths are there in Japan, that are not suicides? Waiting for your reply.

    7. Yeah, Greg claims to believe that if all guns were removed from the US, we would still have exactly the same number of suicides. Likewise, he claims to believe that if Japan were suddenly flooded with guns, their number of suicides would remain the same. Of course he couldn't possible really believe either of those absurd propositions. But I suppose he feels all is fair in love and war, and this is a war for his precious rights. So lying is permitted.

    8. No, Mikeb, I believe what I say. The suicide numbers would be basically the same, regardless of how many guns are available. And yes, suicide is a choice. My point in bringing it up is to say that many people in Japan choose suicide without firearms. Keeping guns out of their hands doesn't stop them. And that answers Anonymous's question. There aren't many gun deaths in Japan. That's because there aren't many guns. But people continue to die through unnatural causes at a high rate. The lack of guns doesn't save lives.

    9. The site liar said:

"There aren't many gun deaths in Japan. That's because there aren't many guns."

So you concede that fewer guns means fewer gun deaths. thanks. You have said just the opposite many times.

    10. Intentional homicide rate:
      Japan 0.4
      United States 4.7

Greg claims that this huge disparity has nothing to do with gun availability. I believe it does. I also believe that if Japan had guns like we do, their suicide rate would be way higher than it is.

Notice how Greg often insists on things that are totally outlandish, counter-intuitive or just plain crazy.

    11. Japan's suicide rate: 21.7
      U.S.'s suicide rate: 11.8

Japan's rate is basically double ours, despite the Japanese people having hardly any guns. Not being a magical thinker, I can't see gun availability as the problem here.

    12. The dishonest response from the site liar.
I did not ask about suicide rates, and you cite no responsible source for your stats anyways.
      Next lie.

You'll notice that the numbers vary a bit, depending on the year, and you have to figure out the total rate, rather than the rates for males and females separately, but are the World Health Organization and the Washington Post "responsible" enough for you? Or did you mean "reliable"?

    14. The difference in murder rates is a helluva lot greater than the difference in suicide rates. You lose.

    15. Mikeb, the point that you keep missing is that a nearly comprehensive ban on guns doesn't save lives.

    16. Liars always lose.

    17. Greg, how in the hell do you get that from these stats. We know from our own experience in The States that when guns are available most murders and most suicides are done with guns. That means that if guns were available in Japan like they are here, there'd be more murders and more suicides there. The huge difference in our respective murder rates must be partly due to the difference in gun availability. Therefore we can deduce, as shocking as it is to say, if guns were prevalent in Japan they'd have even more suicides than they do now.

    18. Mikeb, you've been shown many times that gun laws and availability have no correlation with rates of violent crime. And no, you have no evidence that Japan would have a much higher rate of homicide and suicide if guns were more available there. It's a guess on your part. What we know for certain is that tens of thousands of Japanese people kill themselves every year without guns.

    19. The math proves you wrong. More guns equal more gunshot deaths and injuries.
America has more gun shot deaths per cap and more gun ownership per cap, than any other country in the world.

    20. Anonymous, it's not mathematics that's involved here. The correct science is sociology. There is no mathematical necessity for a gun to do anything. We could have a trillion guns all lying quietly on the floor. That's mathematically possible.

    21. The facts prove you wrong., especially the facts on American gun ownership and American gun shot death numbers. The more guns, the more gun shot deaths.
