"If the shooter ends the spree by killing himself, does that make him a good guy with a gun since good guys with guns stop shooters? "
Laci's logic as always is backwards. Laci even you should know (being a lawyer and all) that even committing suicide is illegal. So NO, he would never be a good guy with a gun by killing himself.
The difference, Anonymous is this. Although Cops are inadequately trained and screened, they receive a helluva lot more training and screening than you civilian gun nuts. That's the difference.
Cops are authorized to use deadly force and get special training on when and how to use that force. They don't just start shooting like some dumb red neck who thinks he saw a crime and just starts shooting no matter what the circumstances around him are. Like caring about innocent bystanders and deciding if shooting is the proper thing to do at the time. The news is full of police doing the wrong thing even with training; I don't want some wanna be Batman idiot civilian making those choices and killing innocent people. Gun loons like to see themselves as heroes using their guns to save society, nothing could be farther from the truth.
I just explained to you what the difference is. When civilians are required to do the training that cops have and go through their screening before getting to own and carry guns, then you'll have a point. Until then, there's a big difference.
Besides, the wrong that's typically done by cops is negligence or unnecessary shootings, excessive force ones. They don't often go on shooting sprees and mass shootings. I can't remember a single case of an cop going into a theater or school and killing as many people as possible. Civilians, and usually law-abiding civilians do that shit.

Really?? Since there is a "helluva" lot of evidence to the contrary, that comment puts you squarely in the nut camp, Mike. And cops are just as civilian as the dishwasher at Panera.
"Your "evidence" is the stuff of extremist gun blogs." Prove that Mike. As I have tons of prove otherwise. I personally know cops, Lots of them. A few do take their responsibility of continued training seriously, but its out of their own pocket to do so. Most are just so-so about it and don't really care to spend their own money to stay accurate with their firearms. The rest care little and only shoot their five rounds a year just to stay qualified to carry.
And all of them, ALL OF THEM will tell you that cops are civilians, not military. That's CIVILIAN anon, and they work as a civil service employee. Thanks for proving your a certified, uninformed, idiot.
Your typical interested gun owner will burn thru thousands, if not tens of thousands of rounds per year. Advanced training from former FBI and other like agency retirees that now hold classes are on the rise across the country. In fact the classes are full and you have to reserve a spot to take one.
And yes there are gun owners that never fire a gun, just like your typical cop.
It's a little late to wait to call the cops until after he starts shooting at you, or someone else. Call the cops let them decide, that's their job.
ReplyDeleteWhy not call 911 every time you see a cop with a gun? He could snap or AD at any time. What is the difference?
ReplyDeleteIt figures a militia nut like you would see a cop as a bad guy. Now back to your class at Harvard.
