Toby Keith Bans Guns at His Virginia Restaurant

34 comments:

  1. Certainly isn't going to help his image since at one point he made a public statement in favor of citizens carrying for self defense.

“I’m all about good people, licensed and trained, carrying a concealed weapon,” Keith said in an interview. “The bad guys are always gonna be carrying guns. There are so many guns in the US and so many bad people that do harm with ‘em. If just one percent of the non-felons would go get their concealed weapons license and carry a gun where they can, one percent puts you in a pretty good position of being somebody that could save a bunch of people’s lives.”

    1. Like Starbucks, even though he agrees with carry, he doesn't want the publicity, or injury a gun mishap in his business might cause. Not to mention the possible liability and financial ruin. He's protecting his business, and it's a good move. He realizes that even as a pro gun guy, a restaurant is not a place necessary to carry a gun.

    2. Just admit it, Anonymous: You don't see a reason for carrying anywhere. But look up Luby's cafeteria in Texas for an example of why carry in restaurants makes sense.

    3. No doubt you hang out in a low life place where you do need a gun.
It's the personalities that hang out there, like you.
      Dangerous people packing.
I would never go to a dive where everyone is packing just waiting for an excuse to prove their manhood.
You do think like a criminal. No surprise you hang out at such dives.

    4. ss, he was probably swept away by all the pro-gun nonsense when he made those remarks but when it came right down to it, when he had to decide whether or not to allow guns in his own place, he knew what's right. And what that is is that for every Luby's restaurant incident there are many where the presence of guns by law-abiding gun owners does harm. I post them every day.

    5. "No doubt you hang out in a low life place where you do need a gun."

It's a bit ironic that Mr. Keith made himself a chunk of change on a song that highlights what you would likely call a low life bar. Plus naming his chain of bars after that very song.
He also openly supported President Obama during his first campaign. And coincidentally had quite the pissing contest with the Dixie Chicks over their comments regarding President Bush.
Again, he is quite within his rights to ban firearms in his venues.

    6. Mikeb, you post a mish-mash of incidents, and a large part of them involve criminals doing their thing. But the good news is that the majority of states in this country have gone against your demands.

    7. Then he obviously sold out his principles to not offend possible paying customers, MONEY.

    8. Actually, Greg, ,most of the misuse of guns that I post is done by you law-abiding gun slingers. But you knew this because you spend almost as much time on the blog as I do. Why do you lie so much, Greg?

    9. I don't lie. A large percentage of the stories you post here turn out to be criminals doing criminal or stupid things. The remainder add up to a small part of total legal gun owners.

    10. Go back and look. Most of my posts are about law-abiding gun owners, many of whom merit the special designation of hidden criminals, but thanks to your lax gun laws and the absence of proper accountability for gun misuse, they continue to own and use guns legally. Some of them become criminals with the incident I post about, but most continue to own and misuse guns.

I realize you can't admit this because then you'd have to admit that we need stronger controls.

      HA HA HA HA HA

Another lie from the criminal lying coward.

  2. Only a paranoid loser is worried about getting ambushed by bad guys during dinner. And yes 20 years ago in Texas it did happen. So fucking what? Since then, 20,000,000 times it has not happened. Losers spend their time worrying about a 1/20,000,000 chance. But loser gunsucks are all very stupid.

    1. Yeah, I think they've got their money's worth out of that old Luby's story.

Nick I understand that you just made that big number up because its big and it makes your point, but exactly why is it ok for you to spout statistics supposedly showing no need to carry a firearm, but when Greg cites statistics showing the very low incidence of improper use by lawful gun owners, you immediately claim its BS?

    3. The way I see it, Nick's number about 20 million times is just about the same as what you guys say about how few concealed carry guys fuck up. The difference is, Nick knew he was using excessive exaggeration to make a point, you guys don't.

    4. Mikeb, what of the following do you deny:

      1. There are some 100,000 gun deaths or injuries requiring hospitalization in a given year.

      2. There are 8,000,000 carry license holders and an unknown number of people who carry in states that require no license.

      3. There are between 60,000,000 and 120,000,000 gun owners in this country.

      4. You've seen the reports of state police agencies that give the number of carry license holders who commit crimes.

    5. You know which one, I've said it enough. You also know why, I've said that enough too.

    6. Oh goodie, a quiz from the coward who refuses to answer questions. or just gives a lying answer.

    7. Yes, Mikeb, I'm aware that you reject facts about all of those, but I was giving you a chance here.

Anonymous, I will answer your questions, if you'll bother to be reasonable.

    8. Quoting your own words, is reasonable and fair.
Keep proving what a lying coward you are. Thanks.

    9. When you're ready to quote with proper citation so we all can verify that you quoted accurately and in context, I'll answer you.

Didi you get arrested for your words?
It's telling that your students rank last nationally, when their teacher thinks quoting ones words, is not reasonable.
You just make yourself look dumber by refusing to own up to your own words. It prove what a lying coward you are.
Keep this up, I'm loving it.

    13. "I'm aware that you reject facts about all of those" All of those? Greg, I only dispute the 4th one. You know that.

    14. No, Anonymous, you can't be trusted to quote accurately or to provide the context of the discussion. If you provided a valid citation, we could all check your work.

Mikeb, you've argued about all of those facts, and you provide no reason to doubt the fourth item in my list.

    15. You are the one who cannot be trusted. You have been proven to be a liar over and over again. The site author considers you a liar. You are just a cowardly chicken shit, who cannot defend your own words. I citation your new word for URL? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA Go play your games with your idiot students, which is where you learned these lying immature games.

    16. "Mikeb, you've argued about all of those facts," I know you think you're slick, but it's becoming a drag. I have never denied the first three points. You used the vague expression "argued about," but before we were talking about whether or not I accept them as true. Now you're vaguely saying I've argued about them.

About the 4th point, I've told you a dozen times why I don't believe it. Plus, I post almost every day examples of permit holders who are not held accountable for their gun misuse.

  3. Looks like self-made millionaire-entrepreneur Mr. Keith has a string of these, "I Love this Bar and Grill" restaurants across the country. Have not looked into it, but I would guess most of these cities and states already prohibit guns in bars. Anyone know the law in Oklahoma City? Looks like he plans to open one in Houston. That should be interesting.

Keith isn't dumb. Personally, I think an owner would have to be off his rocker to allow weapons in his establishment. What would even be the point of hiring bouncers? Oh, I know! Armed bouncers! A great time for all.

Anon, if you had read any posts recently, you would have seen that I don't go places that are posted. And most bouncers aren't big fighters. Their job is to keep the peace.
