Buckeye police are not pursuing any charges in the case of a
7-year-old boy who accidentally shot his 7-year-old friend in the head.
Police said Thursday that no criminal charges are being sought in last month’s shooting inside a home.
Authorities say both boys were at the victim’s home April 13 when they found a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun in a closet.
According to investigators, the victim’s friend held the gun and
accidentally fired it. The bullet grazed the top of the victim’s skull.
Police say the incident is a reminder that gun owners should store firearms in a secure place.
Sort of a grim reminder.
