J. T. Ready

Crooks and Liars has the story, which if it weren't taking place in Arizona of the US of A, I wouldn't believe it.

What do you think? Is this guy one of those veterans who didn't go for treatment that he desperately needed? Looks like it to me.

Can I guy like that be useful on the border, or is he too dangerous for that?

Please leave a comment.

Treatment for what, Smart Guy? Nazism? It would be nice if they came up with one for that, but I don't think that's likely. Probably not PTSD, unless he got it in a hurry (and apparently in the States):

In 1996, Ready joined the Marines but he was discharged that same year for bad conduct.

Nice touch, by the way, trying to conflate veterans who avoid treatment that could cost them their legal access to lifesaving firepower, with Neo-Nazi scum.

    Stay classy, Mikeb.

WTF is this bozo doing with a gun?

BTW, Zerro your PTSD is bad enough that you will lose your guns probably because you will end up self-medicating and get busted for it.

Hate to disappoint you (OK--that's a lie), but since nothing like that happened when my PTSD was quite bad, I'm not too worried about it happening now that I've put the worst of it far behind me.

Besides, I'll never "lose [my] guns" while I live.

    Dismissed.

Nice. Laci has nothing intelligent to say so he attacks Zorro.

    What a sad, sad man.

  5. Aside from him being a Nazi, I see nothing wrong.

It's pretty obvious that Border Patrol is undermanned and the federal government refuses to use the National Guard to do something as obvious as guarding the nation.

We need more JT Ready's on our borders, minus the Nazism.

  8. Zorro, Thanks for doing the research on this character that I should have done. You're right, he has nothing to do with ex-military guys who need treatment for mental problems and don't get it. /sarcasm.

I agree with Laci. What in the world is a guy like this doing with guns. He's unstable and dangerous. Does his Bad Conduct Discharge and all those plea-bargained crimes not add up to enough to disqualify him?

  9. So now one's political views disqualify them from community service? Or as I suspect, are you against this activity by anyone? If so, then being a neo-nazi has nothing to do with the story.

    So which is it?

Are you really going to try to argue, Mikeb, that Ready's problem is a mental illness issue, that the VA could help him with (but won't, since he got out with a bad conduct discharge--yes, the treatment he "didn't get" would never have been offered to him in the first place), rather than the simple fact that he's a bigoted asshole, best "treated" with twice-daily severe beatings for the rest of his life?

Does his Bad Conduct Discharge and all those plea-bargained crimes not add up to enough to disqualify him?

Correct--a dishonorable discharge would do it, but not all discharged for bad conduct necessarily go down as "dishonorably" discharged--a Wiki-explanation.

Also, even under our draconian gun laws, things don't "add up" to render someone forcibly disarmed. If you don't commit one of the actions that disqualify one from gun possession, then no number of lesser misbehaviors will disqualify you.

Things haven't gotten that tyrannical here (yet).

Not in a world where we have crooked lawyers like Laci making sure criminals run wild and free.

I said nothing about his neo-nazi activities. I suggested that his bad discharge and other crimes should disqualify him.

But now that you mention it, a neo-nazi like this might disqualify himself under the mental health criterion I've established (in my ideal fantasy world).
