Sheriff's Deputy's 3-year-old Shoots Self

...police and the sheriff's office are investigating.

It's hard to imagine the suffering it must be to lose a child like this. But, how about when the crying and the mourning is over, this LEO be fired from his job and forfeit his right to own guns for the rest of his life. No jail time, but the loss of job and guns is non-negotiable.

How's that sound?

  1. So if the kid had survived (perhaps killed another child, instead of himself), would he fall under your one-strike-and-you-lose-your-rights-forever rule?

By the way, I think there's a problem with the link to the original article.

  2. Great, so you propose we fuck up this guys life even more by revoking his rights and putting him out of job.

  3. Thanks for the headsup on the broken link.

The one-strike-you're-out rule applies to the gun owner when kids are involved. Did I really need to say that?

Anonymous, Yes indeed I propose that he's out of a job and loses his gun rights. Whether that's the same as "fucking up" his life, I don't know. I would think it might be doing this dangerous and irresponsible character a favor and save lives in the future.

Well, it would have helped. Keep in mind, that much of what you advocate is of such nearly unprecedented insanity (designating as grounds for lifelong forcible disarmament such things as consumption of any alcohol, being related to someone who has been involved with a criminal or negligent shooting, maybe even being the victim of theft) that I--and all other rational people--have no idea what is too insane, even for you (if anything).

It would probably be best if you assumed that most people need all your weirdness explained, because we're not likely to figure it out on our own. Rationality makes that virtually impossible for us.
