Jon Stewart on the Shooting

By the time he was done, I thought there really wasn't all that much difference between what he said and and what Keith Olbermann and the rest of the lefties said. Jon just said it more softly.

What do you think? Please leave a comment.

  1. I know a lot of people were looking to John to make some sense of all of this, and I honor his power and light in difficult times like this.

When something like this happens, there is no mama-papa that's gonna make things ok again. There's nobody that can make it all add up right in your head, just to get that small feeling of satisfaction.

Most of us were too young to feel it when JFK was killed. All I remember was that Mom couldn't play our favorite comedy album, "The First Family" anymore. I never put two and two together until I was in my thirties. It was just too fucking painful to talk about. Nary a word was ever said.

I love the right wing kids over at Sue's place, and I know you have an exceptional commentariat over here, Mike, who could probably give a fuck about politics any more than I do. I mean, that shit usually just gets in the way. I think we can work it out. Whether or not the FBI has issued some irresponsible statement regarding conspiracy or not. We know that this kid is a product of his environment.

It's going to take a sea change of love. Could happen, brothers and sisters. Nobody can red flag crazy people like bad apples. We can help them in more positive ways.

  2. Very nice. Indeed let's find ways to help them in positive ways.

I was about 10 when Kennedy was killed. It changed us all.
