Here we see again that negligence and stupidity has to be regulated for the safety of all. Even the gun loons commenting below agree it's a bad idea. Since someone was killed, it should be against the law. Laws are made to protect people, not punish idiots. The idiots punishment will come from a judge based on the law he broke. No law, no punishment.
That's right. I posted the story of the death, it happened on Christmas day. It seems the story about this idiot in the Florida Keys took place after that. And, incredibly, the authorities are allowing it still.
I want needless death to stop. You do not. This stupid practice has proven to kill innocent people, but you say, that's to bad. The concern for public safety as stated by a lying criminal coward.
I once had a range in my back yard. However, I wasn't firing in the direction of what in my opinion amounts to a road. You can even see the boats parallel parked along the waterway, which is in all regards the same as a road. In my opinion, though it might be legal, it ain't smart. There is all kinds of potential for mishap.
Are there noise ordinances in this town? I see the guy wearing headphones to protect himself from the noise. If I was a neighbor my complaint would be a noise violation.
That's a good question Anon, plus most towns have ordinances prohibiting discharge of firearms in the city limits. My guess is that they in an unincorporated area. That was my situation.
Florida barbarism at its worst. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/12/25/florida-man-shot-and-killed-by-stray-bullet-from-neighbors-backyard-gun-range/

DeleteYou do realize these are two different places, right? And therefor, one isn't related to the other.

DeleteIt's incredible that the authorities have to follow the law?
DeleteIf people are being killed, maybe the law should be change.
DeletePerhaps it should. That would be a matter for the legislature.
DeleteYep, changing and making laws is always a legislative responsibility.
DeleteGreg, do you agree with me and ss that this guy is acting badly?
DeleteMikeb, did you read my comment below?
DeleteAs usual, that's too mild a condemnation. That's usually the best you can do when one of your kind is caught doing something unacceptable.
DeleteToo mild? Too bad for you. I said it was a bad idea. What else do you want?

That is a poor choice of location for a range. If he wants to keep his aiming skills up in that spot, he should use some type of pellet gun.
