Gunloon Myth: Gun Violence victims are gang bangers.

In the State with the famous "get away with murder" law, where people are killed for possessing ice tea and skittles as they walk to their home, or loud music, we now have someone who received the death penalty for the heinous crime of texting during movie previews:

Two couples were among patrons at a matinee of “Lone Survivor” at the Grove 16 movie theater in Wesley Chapel, about 20 miles northeast of Tampa, when one of the men, a retired Tampa police officer, got angry because the man in front of him was using his phone during the previews, despite being asked to stop several times, said Douglas Tobin, a Pasco County sheriff’s office spokesman.
I just thought you might like to see how depraved and evil this person was.  I mean he did deserve to die for using his cell phone to the annoyance of others.

Nothing like the bullshit quote from Robert Heinlein (Beyond This Horizon).  You know, his novel where duels may easily occur when someone feels that they have been wronged or insulted is attributed as a custom that keeps order and politeness (you have actually read it--haven't you?),  You know the one I mean:
An armed society is a polite society
Nothing makes fora polite society like shooting people yakking on cell phones.

Now, tell us again about how guns make us safer?

  1. I guess he infringed on the guys individual liberty, so of course he had to die.

  2. Laci, look up the fallacy of the hasty generalization and get back to us.

  3. By the way, Laci, you've told us that you carried a handgun in the past. Why was that?

  4. As usual, Laci makes a serious post and Greg, rather than commenting on it, attacks Laci.

I have read it. Along with pretty much all of his other stuff. But as you said, its a novel, as in fiction. And I get the fact that the man didn't deserve to be killed for texting. And you'll find that permit holders much more cognizant of the potential for harm than you give them credit for. They undergo the background checks, expense, and training and understand the responsibilities they take on.
But this has nothing to do with a fictional world.

    1. Yeah, permit holders are all that, except in this case.

  6. "Gunloon Myth: Gun Violence victims are gang bangers."

In 2011 there were 1,824 gang homicides out of a total of 8,583 firearm homicides recorded by the FBI. 92% of gang homicides are by firearm. Fairly prevalent for a myth.

    1. "Fairly prevalent?" What. 1800 out of 8500? You call that prevalent.

    2. Laci referred to it as a myth. Twenty percent is a pretty high incidence for a myth.

    3. The myth is that all or practically all gun violence is gang related. That's what your side pushes. Laci debunked that.

    4. Mikeb, you should look up what debunk means. Laci offers a handful of examples. That does not constitute a representative sample.

    5. The site lying criminal coward should look up what being honest means. He obviously has no idea. He lies constantly.

  7. Stats say it's black on black crime causing most of the gun shot victims and deaths.
So just let them kill each other off, while the rest of us walk around with as much firepower as a soldier on the front lines. We will just give up the idea of living in a peaceful, safe society.
