Nominations Now Accepted for 2014 NRA Women's Award

Women enjoying NRA's progams

NRA blog

Each year, the NRA recognizes outstanding women who show a dedication to the preservation of the Second Amendment and our shooting sports. The Marion P. Hammer Woman of Distinction Award and Sybil Ludington Women's Freedom Award are presented to those who exemplify the qualities of true NRA supporters.

The Marion P. Hammer Woman of Distinction Award is named for the first female President of the NRA, known for her grassroots efforts and pivotal role as a lobbyist for Flordia's Right-To-Carry legislation. This award recognizes exceptional contributions to the preservation of the Second Amendment and the shooting sports through advocacy, education, volunteerism, and legislative activism in accordance with the goal of the NRA.

The Sybil Ludington Women's Freedom Award is named for a heroic young woman who helped America achieve independence, recognizing women for their exceptional accomplishments through legislative activism, advocacy, volunteerism, education of others, and additional pursuits towards the goals of the Second Amendment and the NRA.

If they're gonna honor the gals like that, shouldn't they honor the blacks too.  I suggest the Crusade for Moorish Dignity Award (I'll bet Greg gets that reference) goes to this guy. And how about the gays, they deserve some special attention.

No, I'm afraid it doesn't work like that down in Fairfax.  The NRA is, by and large, made up of racist, homophobes who happen to be fat, white men who wouldn't know the first thing about treating women as equals. They actually think patronizing women with special awards is acceptable.

What's your opinion?  Please leave a comment.

Shall I go on? I could say that you're suffering from the green-eyed monster, since the Brady Bunch doesn't have the funds to hand out awards like this, but that would be petty.

    1. Your examples make no sense. When a men's organization gives a awards to women, it's patronizing to say the least.

    2. Nowhere do I see anything from the NRA saying that only men may join, be officers or employees, or participate.

    3. Because the only way to call the NRA a Men's organization is to be a sexist and say that women couldn't possibly be interested in guns and gun rights--they're too busy knitting, cooking, and popping out babies.

    4. No, the reason women are not interested in guns, for the most part, is because they lack that peculiar combination of testosterone and insecurity that you guys have.

    5. Instead of addressing the argument that we made, you go for the cheap insult? Stop lying, Mikeb.

    6. That was not a cheap insult. That was an astute observation. What does "stop lying" have to do with it? Do you think I don't believe what I said?

  2. Bad blogger. Slandering whole groups of people as racists etc. is wrong.

And after your stance against awards for women members I suppose you'll show some consistency and descry Susan B. Anthony awards and other such awards given out by colleges and Universities? Black Culture Awards? Best Actress awards? Etc.?

    No?

No dinner. Go to your room and think about what you've done.

    1. The NRA is basically an organization of MEN. Get it?

    2. Should we then talk about achievement awards for women given out by government? After all, isn't our elected government an organization basically of MEN? And mostly white men at that. I'll stop short of commenting about body fat content.

    3. Because the NRA doesn't have female members, protect the rights of women, etc. Hell, because the first award listed isn't Named After a female NRA president. That would be impossible!

  3. IEEE Women In Engineering Award
    MHD Female Physician Leader Award
Federally Employed Women Military Recognition Award
    International Female Police Peacekeeper Award
    Outstanding Women in Racing Award
    WNBA MVP

All male dominated areas. You are really grasping at things to criticize the NRA for.
