The US surpassed 12,000 gun violence deaths and will reach 50,000 verifiable incidents by the end of the week. You can go to www.gunviolencearchive.org to see a constantly updating Summary Ledger and a searchable database of the toll of US gun violence.
I should also add that there was another siege in SE Pennsylvania which didn't make US MSM, where at least 6 people died. I believe all the victims were armed as well.
It's news when it happens in Australia, but another day when a mass shooting happens in the USA.
Two words: Pay attention.

Actually that made the good ole front page of CNN, pooch. But why should you feel more bound to the truth here than on any other topic.
ReplyDeleteYour claim that it did not make the news does not hold water when you post a link to a ABC TV news Video..Not to mention Mike posted this story yesterday with a link from the BBC and it was on many other channels. And please cite your source for "I believe all the victims were armed as well." because im pretty sure a 17yr old boy and a 14 yr old girl were not armed.

ReplyDeleteSorry Laci, we talked about it here,

Do you have anything that mentions all of the victims being armed? I haven't seen anything about that in the articles I've read.
This is the kind of society the gun loon killers want, constant killing.
ReplyDeleteActually I think Laci has a good point. The PA story didn't seem to receive the usual amount of attention. The conclusion that we've become inured to these frequent incidents makes perfect sense.
ReplyDeleteMakes perfect sense to whom?
DeleteThe story out of Australia was about an Islamic terrorist holding hostages and waving a black flag. Terrorists, real or not, trump everything.

What point of Laci's was good? You mean the one where the actual sentence that claims the story wasn't picked up by Main Steam Media is a link to ABC News complete with AP photos? Don't you think he should at least try to make us work to refute his points?
DeleteAs I said, the PA story seemed to get little attention in the media.

DeleteFine, but care to enlighten us on whether or not you believe there's a difference between "little attention in the media," and Laci's "didn't make US MSM"?
If I'd said something that blatantly false, I could offer no objection to you calling me a liar. Happily, though, I've not said anything so idiotically mendacious.
Laci didn't say it got less attention than Australia, or that it wasn't enough attention. He said it "didn't make US MSM"- that it wasn't reported on at all by national news outlets... but he also provided a link to a MSM report of the incident. This is from the guy who's too intelligent to debate with us.
DeleteBut again, your point is only driven by what it "seemed like" to you. I saw both stories show up as main headlines.
