Police in Washington State Fatally Shoot Man Who Threw Rocks at Them
Yahoo News Police in Washington state shot a man to death who threw rocks at them,
officials said on Wednesday, as a video published online appearing to
show the incident drew criticism of the officers' actions.
“He was a kind person, family-oriented,” said Blanca Zambrano, his cousin. “He was hardworking.” Zambrano-Montes did have a history of erratic behavior, according to court documents. He was convicted of assault in 2014 after a confrontation with Pasco police, who tried to stop him from hitting cars with a broom. He threw a rocking chair and tried to grab an officer’s gun from his belt while under the influence of methamphetamine. Zambrano-Montes was throwing rocks at cars about 5 p.m. Tuesday near Fiesta Foods when police were called. He hit two officers with rocks and refused to listen to commands, Police Chief Bob Metzger said. " Police gave him orders to surrender and unsuccessfully tried using a Taser. The officers chased him across the intersection of 10th Avenue and Lewis Street and eventually shot him in front of a business on Lewis Street."
So we have a person who has a history of violence against police officers and in into meth, and the Taser didn't work. Will likely be a while before the inquest is complete.
"Border Patrol agents may continue using deadly force against rock-throwers, the chief of the agency said, despite the recommendation of a government-commissioned review to end the practice."
"Fisher repeated the agency's long-standing position that rocks are lethal weapons. Smugglers have long pelted agents with rocks, bottles and other objects — often from Mexico — hoping to create an opening elsewhere along the border when agents rush to assist colleagues being pelted."
One way to look at it is, would the rock thrower potentially be charged with aggravated assault? Not too long ago, George Zimmerman was initially charged with aggravated assault when he was accused of throwing a bottle at someone.
"aggravated assault n. the crime of physically attacking another person which results in serious bodily harm and/or is made with a deadly or dangerous weapon such as a gun, knife, sword, ax or blunt instrument. Aggravated assault is usually a felony punishable by a term in state prison."
WTF has border patrol got to do with this? Another one of your diversions. The video clearly shows he did not have to be shot, but you keep defending killers.
I mentioned the Border Patrol's use of deadly force in regards to rock attacks because of the calls for the DOJ to investigate. Seemed ironic that they are calling on a level of government to investigate the very thing that they do on occasion. What I saw was that he turned to confront the officers. Cant really tell if his hands are empty or not. We'll just have to let the investigation run its course.
"Border Patrol agents may continue using deadly force against rock-throwers, the chief of the agency said, despite the recommendation of a government-commissioned review to end the practice."
It had been recommended that, that practice stop. The Chief went against the review. So a government review said the practice should stop, but you are using that to show there is precedent that rock throwing is an excuse to use deadly force? That's as dishonest a reading as it gets, no surprise from you.
And the decision made by the chief could be overruled by his boss, who is eventually, if you go high enough is the President since its part of the federal government. As I said before, is throwing a rock of sufficient size going to get you charged with aggravated assault? If so, you would potentially be justified in using deadly force to defend yourself. The decision to charge, or not will have to be made. I have read one article saying the rocks were softball sized, but it didn't have a real source of the information. If it's accurate, it could easily be considered something capable of causing death or great bodily harm.
"And the decision made by the chief could be overruled by his boss, who is eventually, if you go high enough is the President since its part of the federal government." You do say the dumbest things SS. Now you are making Obama possibly responsible? That's funny. You want to defend this shooting on nothing but your guesses. Softball size rocks? Really? Try again. Did you see the guy with his hands up while he went by the corner of the building? Did you notice he had nothing in his hands? No softball sized rock, no gun, nothing.
Ultimately he is. It all falls under his administration, for which he gets either credit or blame. If you had read the article I cited, the Border Patrol Chief rightly said that a blanket restriction is unsafe and that every instance of use of deadly force should be looked at individually, which is the current practice pretty much everywhere. Every time someone uses deadly force, the event is examined for potential criminal charges. And that's the way it should be.
These nut job gun loons will go to any ridiculous length to "Blame It On Obama!" This article had nothing to do with the boarder patrol, which is why I called it a diversion by you, and it is.
I've heard very little about Obama getting credit for killing bin Laden, especially from the conservatives and Republicans. But, you say he's ulitmately responsible for even a questionable police shooting?
Similarly, I don't hear much about preventing another 9/11 type attack. It hasn't happened on his watch.
"I've heard very little about Obama getting credit for killing bin Laden, especially from the conservatives and Republicans."
Line one of the job description of a Commander reads, "Is responsible for everything the unit does, or fails to do". So he gets credit for what good happens on his watch, and blame for the bad. And needless to say, ultimately responsible for the actions of subordinates. The Border Patrol falls under Homeland Security, While it might be fashionable to claim among the civilian leadership that having a certain level of separation in the chain of command gives you some deniability, he is literally my Commander in Chief, which sort of defines my expectations of him.
Your false boarder patrol incident doesn't settle legal precedent for law enforcement, no matter what the conclusion. Then we still have the review that said stop using rock throwing as a deadly force excuse. Your dishonesty is your priority.
I do like how nearly has the the power to record video in their pocket for cases like this. But please, when recording video on your iPhone, turn it horizontal.

Being a cop is a tough job, but I won't sanction killing for throwing rocks. You do. No surprise.

So is a person allowed to use deadly force to defend themselves from a felonious assault?
Your example only proves my point about you. The video clearly shows they did not have to use deadly force. You gun loons are kill happy.

DeleteIf Zim's girlfriend had shot Zim dead for throwing a bottle at her, would she have been charged with murder
Delete"If Zim's girlfriend had shot Zim dead for throwing a bottle at her, would she have been charged with murder"
DeletePossibly, that would be up to the prosecutor. If so, she would be judged by a jury of her peers like Zimmerman was.

This sure looked like another unnecessary police shooting.
Delete13 seconds into the video he has his hands up. Guess you missed that.

DeleteThe shot and missed. The man is still alive posing no threat. He's trying to get away but is easily caught up with and is posing no threat.
ReplyDeleteThey he is EXECUTED!!
When you kill and it need not be the case then it's murder. These badges are fucking murderers plain and simple.
