Bloomberg's FixGunChecks.com

What could possibly be objectionable in what he says?

  1. Yeah, my problem with it is that he's claiming that gun dealers can sell guns without a background check, which is total bullshit.

Now I'm sure he knows he's talking about unlicensed gun sellers (which make up a small minority at gun shows, the vast majority are licensed dealers), but the "spin" he's putting on it makes it sound like you can walk into a gun show and buy from any dealer there without a background check.

It's not a "loophole," instant check systems were intended for DEALERS, period. Claiming this is a loophole is like claiming that driving 100 MPH on private property is a "loophole" to the speed limit laws. Requiring checks for private sales isn't a loophole, it's a completely different, new law.

  2. Bloomberg never misses the chance to tell a lie. New Yorks Grand Hypocrite even got to use his favorite word "loophole".

  3. Must be a commie to care about citizens he took an oath to protect. Plus he doesn't love the Amerika gun nutters do. Plenty are locking and loading right now to take care of this menace.

  4. "What could possibly be objectionable in what he says?"

The falsehoods in his speech are what I find objectionable.

34 Americans aren't killed with a handgun every day. That's a statistic that is not a true number if you ignore that it is a statistic.

Gun shows are not a major source of crime guns. Neither are private party transactions. Stolen guns and guns borrowed/stolen from family/friends are a far bigger problem.

In addition Mr. Bloomberg stole funds (one source said 100,000) for propaganda to illustrate that the law is different in a different state than where he has any legal power. Had he spent the same funds on NYC streets they could have surely busted at least one gun dealer whose customers were gangsters who actually murder people with their ill gotten guns.

So that's what I find objectionable - lies and theft in order to deprive the law abiding citizen of their arms, all while Mr. Bloomberg walks around with men carrying guns for his benefit. Hypocrisy, crime, and epic dishonesty.

  5. @One Fly, I don't see anything about protecting people in the New York Mayor's oath of office:

"I, Michael R. Bloomberg, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of New York, the Charter of the City of New York, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of Mayor of the City of New York, according to the best of my ability."

    http://www.nytimes.com/1997/12/31/nyregion/for-just-15-cents-and-some-solemn-words-a-mayor-becomes-a-mayor-again.html

The duty of the government isn't to protect people, it's to protect people's RIGHTS. Thinking its job is to protect the people from themselves or each other is what's gotten us into this sorry state of affairs.

  7. You critics of Bloomberg, or can I just call you Bloomberg-haters, are so biased and vicious that it loses credibility for your side's argument.

Keep picking on the word "loophole" when you know exactly what is meant. Keep attacking him for spinning something that seems pretty straightforward and clear.

I think what you really object to is that he's an influential man who speaks well and will very likely effect some changes that you don't want. In other words, he disagrees with you, period.

  8. Mike,

You left out the parts where he is a hypocrite and a liar.

  9. It's hard to be respectful to people who are so dishonest and bigoted, but I do try.

It may seem straightforward to you, because you're on the same merry-go-round with him. If you could see him objectively, the spin would be obvious.

  10. I just wish he would get charged for the felonies he has committed. Yup. Federal felonies.

One of the very strict laws about buying guns from a dealer as he did I'n his last stunt when he hired peoe to buy guns for him, is that you swear that you are the real purchaser of the firearm. If you are an agent or acting for someone to buy firearms, you are a felon, as is the person who is supplying you with the money to purchasethat firearm.

So you see, by hiring people to flaunt the law and buy firearms for him, both he and the Purchasers have committed felonies.

Didn't his guys buy from non-dealers? Wasn't that the whole point to show the need for closing the "loophole?"
