Overt Racism

An image purporting to show a racist, anti-Obama bumper sticker on the back of a vehicle has been garnering lots of attention on Facebook in the past 24 hours.

The bumper sticker reads, "Don't Re-Nig in 2012." And in smaller print below, "Stop repeat offenders. Don't' reelect Obama!" The sticker also features an image of the Obama campaign logo crossed out.
Several viewers have claimed the image has been digitally altered. After all, it seems shocking that someone would proudly display an openly racist image on their vehicle in 2012. So, is the image authentic?
In short, yes.
My experience has been that racist Obama-haters deny their racism and wouldn't display it on their vehicle. Of course there would be exceptions.

What do you think? Please leave a comment.

Racism and stupidity go hand in hand--along with bullying and cowardice.

The majority of people I've talked to (the vast majority) who hate Obama cannot give any genuine reason for their assessment of him as a socialist or any of the other labels that they apply to him. In their minds, hating black people is a feature of being white, not a bug.

  2. Obama has been unwilling to be much of anything in many areas. His healthcare reform act is weak, but not such a bad plan and could work, if he'd put any effort into supporting it. He did get Osama bin Laden, but he's been too lax about making policy in Iraq and Afghanistan, choosing instead to let the local "leaders" decide for him. He bailed out major sectors of the economy, and what has he got for doing so? He's made no obvious changes to the way that those businesses are run. He has been entirely wrong on the PATRIOT Act.

So Democommie, my assessment of him is that he's a Charlie Brown: wishy-washy. Your response?

  3. What the fuck does any of that have to do with Mike's post? Justify the bumper sticker?

Oh, I get it. You're one of the "good guys" who really gave Obama a chance.

    1. I was responding to Democommie's implied assertion that people only oppose Obama out of racism. To me, with the exception of healthcare, Obama is Diet Bush, and the health care reform has been so much food coloring so far.

I actually was going to vote for Obama, but then he supported the welfare check for Wall Street. That bailout may have done some good, but it could have been so much better. But I don't have to have given him a chance to be a "good guy." Unless, that is, you think that everyone who isn't a Democrat is evil.

On the subject of the bumper sticker, I think that it speaks for itself. I haven't seen one out in the real world, even here in deep red and deep south Arkansas, so who knows if it's real or not.

  4. But it is perfectly alright for some rap, hip-hop artist to call other blacks naygurs, women, ho's and bitches, but this guy's bumper sticker is racist. Instead of calling this racist and getting your undies in a bundle, shouldn't we be defending his right of free speech.
I guess it is more convenient to overlook the true racists, especially when they are black, and institutional. Is there any institution more racist than Obama's Justice Dept.? It is well documented in lawyer J. Christian Adams book, titled "Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department."
What we have here is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

  5. Here's what puzzles me. I've heard the word renig my entire life. I believe it's meaning is to take back. So, if the bumper sticker is real, and they're using the nig part of the word to refer to the President. Then they are truly retarded. The way I read the sticker...

Don't take back Obama in 2012, meaning leave him in office.

    1. Here in the south, we don't speak our short vowels distinctly, so short e and short i sound alike. That may explain why the word, renege, gets spelled incorrectly from time to time.

  6. Overt racism has, for the most part disappeared. Hidden racism however is alive and well. It's what accounts for much of the Obama hate.

    2. Well I can't speak for all anti-war hippies and tree-huggers, but what got my friends and I started was allowing the energy industry to regulate itself by packing the FERC, the Iraq war and the obscene waste of Pentagon funds on the no-bid contracts to Halliburton, the Carlyle Group and other defense contractors. We did feel that the Rhenquist court nudged the election unfairly, even stole it. But I don't recall hating GWB the day he took office.

    4. Mike, I've seen you post many things on here that are not supportive of Obama. Does that mean that you are one of the vast majority of people that Democommie has talked to who are racist?

    5. That's just stupid, Anonymous. None of my criticism of the Obama policies could be misconstrued as Obama hate.

  7. Greg Camp, as usual, bullshits and plays apologist.

No specifics, no facts to back up his assertions about the president's shortcomings. Same old, same old.

Renege and "re-nig" are going to sound similar, maybe to some inbred moron who doesn't know the meaning of the word "renege".

You don't even know if the bumper sticker is genuine? Google, dumbfuck, that's what it's there for.

    This:

"Where did Ms. Smith find the sticker in the first place? “We just found it on the internet, and thought it was cute. It’s been up there since he’s been president.”

    is from here (http://www.forbes.com/sites/rogerfriedman/2012/03/17/exclusive-seller-of-controversial-anti-obama-sticker-says-its-not-racist/)

According to Ms. Smith, the bumper sticker has been in her inventory since July 2010.

    1. Democommie, have you noticed the way that people misspell lots of words these days? They hear the word spoken and can't be bothered to look it up.

Oh, wait, you're one of them.

Question: When you look in the mirror do you see the word H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E on your forehead? You should. You're the same person that accuses Ron Paul of all sorts of things without so much as a stitch of facts to back it up.

I actually do know how to spell, fuckwad. I'm making fun of you when I deliberately change the spellings of words--I'm not really surprised that you haven't figured that out yet.

Your indignorance on many, many subjects is amusing; that you vote and have reproductive equipment is cause for concern, though. It is particularly hilarious that you write some fucking lame comment like:

"Here in the south, we don't speak our short vowels distinctly, so short e and short i sound alike. That may explain why the word, renege, gets spelled incorrectly from time to time."

to offer some apologist cant excusing racism.

So, in order to know that the word has a "short vowel" wouldn't one have to look it up in the FUCKING DICTIONARY?

    1. I was not excusing anything. I was merely making the observation that some people misspell the word in question because they haven't seen it written before, and they spell it the way that they pronounce it. Since I don't really care all that much about this bumper sticker, it doesn't matter to me what went on in the mind of the person who created it.

But if you want me to believe that you can write intelligently, why don't you try it now and then? The only words that I see you spell correctly on a consistent basis are ones that can't be said on the radio. This puts in doubt your claim that you're smarter than you act.

Without knowing what the fuck it means, spelling it "re-nig" with a hyphen? This would be the same sort of person who would pronounce "weigh" as "wig"; "freind" as "frind" or what? Why not just go with the most likely explanation? The persons who designed, printed and sell such a bumper sticker are racist assholes.

"Since I don't really care all that much about this bumper sticker, it doesn't matter to me what went on in the mind of the person who created it."

That you don't care about such a sticker says a lot more about your views on race than you think it might.

What gave you the idea that I give a fuck what you believe about me or anything at all?

    1. 1. My caring or not isn't going to change the minds of the people who make or buy such a sticker. In addition, since we still have freedom of speech in this country, said people have the right to do as they wish.

      2. You obviously care what I think, since you can't bring yourself to leave a comment of mine alone. When I haven't commented on an article, even if it's only been up a short while, you refer to me time and again.

      3. You clearly are incapable of nuanced thinking.

And I never stated otherwise. You can't bring yourself to call them what they are, fucking racists, because you agree with them. It's that simple.

You and your asshole gunzloonz palz hate Obama because you perceive him to be in the process of TAKIN' YOUR GUNZ AWAY. Since he's not lily white you attribute a lot of of his "failings" to his being black. You have no genuine argument against his policies, just a lot of vague assertions (pretty much your m.o., btw) and it's pretty transparent, son.

You and the rest of your friends are sad, pathetic clownz who, without your gunz, are helpless and would live be afraid to live in the world.

I refer to you because I know that you will, if you have not already, make an asinine assertion about your "right" to be a fucking moron. I DON'T give a fuck what you do or think, until you pick up the gun. You're a small and weak person and you have to have a weapon to buttress your ego. It's sad, but it also puts a lot of other people in danger because you have the unjustified notion that YOU are going to do the right thing, 'cuz you have the gunz.

What school is it that you work at? I mean you keep professing your right to carry a gun to your place of employment, but you keep dodging the question as to where that employer is; sounds like cowardice to me.

    1. Democommie, let's see if you can comprehend:

      1. I do not agree with the language of that bumper sticker.

      2. Obama's politics and his race are two separate matters. I have objections to some of his agenda, and to other aspects of it, I think that he hasn't gone far enough. He could be white, green, or pink with purple spots for all I care.

      3. Where I work is none of your business. I have told you the laws of the State of Arkansas with regard to guns on college campuses--fine outside, but don't take them into a building--and I follow the law.

      4. No one who knows me has ever called me small. I'm 6' 1" tall, and a stone or two over what my doctor would like. You really should give up your practice of psychology, since you have no clue what you're doing.

      5. While we're on the subject of cowardice, though, I note that you don't tell us much about yourself.

Bullshit, his race is a huge part of the politics of the right. You have objections to some of his agenda? No specifics? Again, bullshit.

Aren't you the person who knows the language extraspecialgood? Look up, "small", Greggie; it's got more than one definition.

"5. While we're on the subject of cowardice, though, I note that you don't tell us much about yourself."

Says a guy who has to carry a fucking gun to be "safe".

You keep telling me that your state allows you to do what you do with your gunz on the campus where you teach. Oddly, you refuse to tell me which campus that is so that I can go to the administration there and verify your claims. That's okay, I know you're brave, 'cuz you got teh gunz (apparently quite a few of them).

  12. Wow, I nearly forgot. Now that we know that the sticker is genuine, do we need to make sure that the duckies decal and the Benelli stickon weren't photoshopped? I mean, GOD forbid that gunzloonz (and I think you gotta be a little bit loony to put a fucking "Benelli" sticker on your auto's rear window) might be racistz.
