Shooting of Pastor Mary-Marguerite Kohn and Friend in Murder - Suicide

The Eldersberg Patch reports on the tragedy.

Kohn, 62, and 59-year-old Brenda Brewington were both shot Thursday night in an office at St. Peter’s Church. Brewington was dead when officials arrived and Kohn was taken to University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma unit in “very serious condition,” according to police. Kohn serves as co-rector at St. Peter's.

Police later found a man in a nearby wooded area, dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was identified Friday afternoon as Douglas Franklin Jones, 56. According to police, Jones lived on a campsite in the woods and had been involved in a dispute with the church’s food bank.

What's it sound like to you, another nut with a gun? Please leave a comment.

  1. Sounds like one of the 99% living off the grid, got a little peeved that he didn't get his full allotment of free cheese......

  2. I thought violent crimes never happened in churches? Isn't that why several states consider citizens (with concealed carry licenses) to be criminals if they carry in churches?

I am going to have a stern talk with the congressman in my state about that. They better figure out how to make criminals obey concealed carry law.
    (end sarcasm)

    1. I don't know if this happened in the church itself, but I get your sarcasm.

Obviously those who prohibit guns in churches understand the problem like I do. It's not the criminals we have to worry about as much as it is you gun owners, who are sometimes hidden criminals yourselves or walking time bombs.
