Accidental Shooting of Baby in Concealed Carry Home

Local news reports

The child’s mother, Deshana Lisenbee, 24, who gave a 215 Terminal Road, Apt. B, address, was booked Saturday night into Montgomery County Jail and charged with aggravated child abuse. She was released on $5,000 bond.

A 1-year-old accidentally shot himself in the hand Saturday afternoon.

The child lives in a Terminal Road apartment with a man and a woman who have gun carry permits, said Clarksville Police spokesman Officer Jim Knoll. He said he’s not sure who is the parent of the boy.
It makes you wonder how low a standard they have for issuing those concealed carry permits. It makes you wonder what the hell the pro-gun guys are talking about when they keep saying how safe these people are.

  1. This is Tennessee, so the standard is a background check (we're talking thorough here), a written test about the law and safety, and a skills test. I got my first carry license in Tennessee. Let's note that this happened in the home, so the carry licenses are irrelevant. Tennessee, like just about the whole country, doesn't require a license in the home.

But on your second point, there are eight million carry license holders in this country and many more citizens who carry in states that don't require a license. Mikeb, you consistently refuse to acknowledge that the number of screwups is a tiny minority of that number.

But hey, you should be pleased about one thing. This woman isn't white. At least the issuance of licenses ain't racist.

  2. How much do you want to bet she is an Obama voter?

  3. A minority with a CC Permit? Unpossible, that would require a state issued ID and we all know requiring a state issued ID chills the exercising of rights by minorities.

  4. No big surprise--Tennessee has virtually no gun laws. Couple that with the fact that 1 in 8 of adult Tennesseeans can't read and you have the recipe for gunloonery.

    1. As your friends like to say to others "provide proof to back up up assertions".

Otherwise your just another dumb ass spouting crap on the internet.

  5. The racism angle here is that she wouldn't have been charged if she was white in TN.

Cases in point: 2010-Norene, TN--a 3 yo shoots herself, mistaking a gun for a Wii remote. No charges filed. Parents white.

2012-Morristown, TN--7 yo wounds himself playing with parents gun. No charges filed. Parents white.

These cases aren't hard to find.

    1. Oooh, two cases in three years and no sources provided. Well, Green Goblin, you certainly made your point there--your point being that you have no ability to argue effectively.

    2. Greggy, as I sagely noted, there are many cases that are easy to find. In TN and elsewhere.

If you're white and your kid is wounded or killed by your gun---you'll get a "this was all a terrible tragedy."

      If you're black---it's child abuse.

    3. Racism? Come on, you can't possibly think this woman was a McCain voter!

    4. Green Goblin, why do you keep using the word "sagely"? It in no way applies to you. You say the cases are easy to find. Do you expect me to do your work for you? How many such cases happen to carry license holders? What percentage of total licensees is that?

    5. "Do you expect me to do your work for you?"

Well, he is a liberal after all.
