Would someone please explain to me what is going on in Spartanburg, South Carolina. That fair city seems to be in the news regarding gun violence more than Chicago. An Inman woman has been charged with shooting and killing her boyfriend, who was on home detention on a murder charge for a death 11 years ago, according to deputies.Sharon Nicole Miller, 39, is charged with murder.Spartanburg County deputies believe Miller shot 38-year-old Steven Lee McDowell around 10 a.m. Monday, and then called 911.McDowell was on home detention after being charged with murder in 2010 in the death of 34-year-old Michael Smith of Spartanburg back in 2001.
The Waffle House was twice in the news.
Those are just a few examples. Is that part of the South particularly violent? Is there a higher concentration of guns there than, say, Atlanta or Richmond?
What's your opinion? Please leave a comment.
Did you read the story? She shot her boyfriend who was on home detention on a murder charge. He was charged in 2010 for a murder that happened in 2001.
ReplyDeleteThis may be a case of self-defense. It looks to be a lesson about not allowing a thug to live in your home. But it certainly tells us that something is wrong with law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
Yeah, either that or she's a cracked out maniac who, just like you, has easy access to guns. Unfortunately there's no way to make it harder for people like her to get guns without inconveniencing guys like you a little bit.
DeleteBe honest, Mikeb. You call the inconvenience minor, but to you, minor inconveniences are limits on the number of guns that a person may own, a tribunal of a mayor, a chief of police, and a shrink to decide if I get even to own a gun, mental health tests for all gun owners, bans on owning ammunition if the person doesn't have a gun to go with it, insurace, gun safes that would impress a bank manager, licensing of gun owners, registration of guns, and on and on. You have proposed all of those on this site. That's your definition of minor.
DeleteYou forgot periodic drug testing.
DeleteYes, all minor inconveniences for responsible, sober gun owners, well worth it since the improvement would be vast.
THe loss of jobs has decimated Spartanburg. there are many textile plants in the city that shutdown when all the jobs moved to China.
