And he also doesn't (didn't?) look like Errol Flynn..

This is a reconstruction of what someone from Palestine at about the time of "Jesus" would have looked like (source):

Carlos F. Cardoza-Orlandi, associate professor of world Christianity at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, says that "While Western imagery is dominant, in other parts of the world he is often shown as black, Arab or Hispanic."

  1. Let's assume that Mary looked like this woman born in that geographical area who is a Jew.

And let's assume the Immaculate Conception is true.
The man would have been gorgeous!

Or, they could have just dug up John the Baptists head and worked from there.
    But really, who cares?

The important thing to remember is that, "If Christ were here there is one thing he would not be--a Christian."

  2. I think Jesus was probably cuter than that. He had a sense of humor. And he probably had a great deal of personal charm. Inner beauty translates to outward beauty. Everybody looks nicer when they are smiling.

And yes, Orlin, Mary was surely a beautiful girl. But that's just silly. That girl could have been born in Poland. Remember the diaspora returned to Israel in 1948. They had been away for a while.
