Stupidity with guns should be taken much more seriously than it is. These incidents are happening every day, day in and day out.Allen Kieler was at his residence at 81 STH 35 in Jamestown Township. Kieler was showing visiting family members an older model .22 caliber handgun when the gun discharged a round. The round went through Kieler's hand, hit him in the shoulder area nd then went into the ceiling. Kieler was transported to Finley Hospital in Dubuque by Hazel Green EMS. Kieler is in stable condition. No one else was injured in the incident and no charges are being filed. Alcohol and foul play have been ruled out.
The gun didn't just discharge. He hit the trigger while it was aiming at himself. Would you trust a guy like that around guns?

Accidents of all types occur, no matter how much control comes down from on high. Don't you imagine that the embarrassment this man surely feels will have an effect? That's enough.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we can rely on self-correction due to embarrassment.
DeleteWhat I don't understand is why you always feel that we need to do something.
DeleteBullet holes in yourself can be pretty good teachers when you live. He has probably learned his lesson.
ReplyDeleteWhile you're at it why not the call for one-strike and you're out with cars? They kill plenty more people, in fact the number one killer of teens. Do it for the children.
One strike you're out with cars would probably save lives too, but that's for a car blog. This one is about guns.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, it's worked so well in the past for drug dealers, bank robbers, con men, etc.,. Yeah, embarassment, the ultimate deterrent.
Democommie, the people that you named have no sense of shame. Social restraint doesn't work with them, which is why we have other means. But surely you recognize that avoiding embarrassment is a powerful motivation for most people?
