Richmond VA Man Arrested in NYC With a Gun

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports

Police say they have arrested a 26-year-old Richmond man who was trying to enter a Times Square subway station with a loaded handgun tucked into his waistband.

Travis Marks was arrested at 42nd Street Friday evening during rush hour after New York City officers Mohammed Ahmed and Adam England say they saw him enter the subway station illegally.

Police say Marks tried to toss a plastic bag with a white powdery substance, possibly drugs, and they arrested him. Police say they found a loaded, 9mm semi-automatic handgun in his waistband.

Marks was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon.

In spite of all the crying on the part of gun-rights activists, Bloomberg's New York City works pretty well with regards gun laws. Remember the Tennessee nurse and the Indiana Marine who got slaps on the wrist for the same charge?

How much you want to bet this Virginia boy does a little time?

One big difference is that the only reason both the nurse and marine were arrested, is that they saw a "no guns" sign and approached police officers asking where they should check their handguns to comply.

    1. That's not the only difference, but the charges were the same. When the earlier incidents happened all you guys expected Bloomberg to make examples out of them, because, after all, he hates guns and gun owners, right? That didn't happen because you gun owners are not the poor victims you like to pretend to be. The NYC laws work pretty well and are not being abused by the authorities.

    2. Or could it be that Bloomberg knows how close he is to facing national reciprocity?

So, breaking the law is okay, unless you get caught. Got it.

I don't believe I said that. But breaking the law is not punishable until you are caught.

As to the nurse and the marine, if they had ignored the "no guns" sign instead of asking a police officer for help in attempting to comply with what they perceived the law to be, they would never have been arrested and charged with a crime. They were not trying to get away with something.

You have serious difficulty understanding simple arguments.

Really? And that simple argument is?

  5. Uh, Democommie and Mikeb, did you miss the bit about drugs? Oh, yes, this fellow will spend some time on a state-sponsored vacation. There was no mention about the nurse or the Marine carrying drugs along with their guns. That's a huge difference.

Actually that is not true. In the original announcement about the arrest, Bloomberg, being the liar he is, tried to slander the nurse by saying she may have had drugs on her.

    2. Ah, I should have said that there was no asseertion based on facts that those two were carrying drugs.

    3. Yes, Bloomberg, the liar and persecutor of poor misunderstood gun owners.

    So, as I said before:

"So, breaking the law is okay, unless you get caught. Got it.".

Ignorance of the law is is not accepted as an excuse for violating the law. And your contention that neither of them thought they were doing anything wrong is disingenuous. If they don't know whether what they're doing wit teh gunz is legal, they shouldn't be doing it.

BTW, boyz, Mayor Bloomberg is not on my list of heroes, so it makes little difference to me what he says. He was not involved in the arrest and won't be inolved in any prosecutions for people that are smart enough to load a gun, but not smart enough to check the gunzlawz of someplace they'll be visiting.
