10 Ways to Tell if You're a Republican

8. If you think the Second Amendment gives you the right to own a machine gun (and the First Amendment allows you to threaten to use it).

You can probably guess what some of the others are.  I liked Number 1, too.

  1. Of course, there really isn't too much of a difference between the Republicans and Democrats other than the Dems try to make you feel good.

The republicans know that the people who buy their agenda are too dim to feel anything.

I hate agreeing with Laci. :)

  3. So basically, you're Republican if you support the 2nd Amendment.

  4. No, Az Red, being a Repug means that you interpret the 2A incorrectly.

Of course I would use it- unless of course I was buying it strictly as a collector’s item.

The number one way you can tell you are a gun-hater is when any “use” of a gun is “bad use”.

  6. No, TS, collector's items is a very good use for a firearm.

Especially if it is as a display piece.

Unfortunately, the practise of "deactivating" firearms is dying out. Not that it existed in the US.

I will mention my story of being told by ATF that a deactivated firearm (L1A1-SLR) was a "machinegun" and illegal to import--despite a certificate from a proof house that it was unfireable.

Anyway, The police forces are alleging that these firearms are being "reactivated", especially post Jill Dando.

Personally, I would prefer to have Jill Dando around than guns anyday.

  7. Laci: "No, TS, collector's items is a very good use for a firearm."

    Any others?

No. It sounds like they are interpreting it quite correctly.

  9. Jadegold is too polite with you guys. I like to describe what you've done with the 2A as "bastardizing."

  10. So interpreting it as it was intended is bastardization?
George Orwell really understood you types too well. Up is down, bad is good, etc. When is the Two Minutes' Hate scheduled?

  11. Well that's the whole point, TB. The "original intent" had more to do with the first three words than the last four.

It seems the Supreme Court of the United States, who's job it is to interpret the laws and constitution, disagrees with your opinion on the matter.
