Stabbing Attack and Gun Suicide in Farago's Neighborhood

Authorities said 32-year-old Jennifer Allen of Tiverton arrived at Franklin & Co. Interiors in Newport on Tuesday morning and confronted a 28-year-old woman with a handgun and large knife. The woman told officers that Allen asked her "How do you want to die... pick one."

Allen stabbed the woman twice in the torso and once in the head. The woman was treated and released at Newport Hospital.

Authorities believe Allen targeted the woman because she believed she was having an affair with her husband, Capt. Russell Hayes told The Newport Daily News.

Allen also threatened other employees of the store and forced them to lie on the floor, police said.

Police Lt. William Fitzgerald said Allen apparently fatally shot herself in the head as officers entered the building owned by the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum.
Too bad the famous gun blogger wasn't nearby, he could have shot the knife out of her hand and made her put the gun down.

I don't suppose anyone checked to see if the disturbed woman had a concealed carry permit. You see, many crimes like this take place and that little fact goes unexplored. Then the gun-rights advocates tell us how law-abiding the concealed carry people are.

Mostly they check and there is no CCW so there is nothing to report. She didn't have a membership in the IBEW so they didn't report that either.

  2. And we don't know if she was employed by the United Nations, nor do we know if she had a library card. Was she a member of the Baha'i faith? We can go on and on. What reason do you have, Mikeb, for imagining that she would have a carry license?

It's a shameless attempt at connecting her crime and practically every other misdeed to the concealed carriers and the concealed carry movement in general.

  4. When a person doesn't have a permit there's often a gun charge too. That's one thing. But the point is no one knows how thoroughly they check.

    1. Allen is dead, no? Now you want charges filed against dead people? And permit or no, carrying a gun with the purpose of committing a crime is itself a crime and would warrant a gun charge. A license to carry isn't a license to commit crimes, despite your confused rhetoric.

  5. I find it interesting that she made sure to shoot HERSELF and not the others she attacked. No way of knowing why she did that but it certainly seems a bit strange. Did she want them to suffer a slow and agonizing death while she took the easy way out?

If it was her gun, how did she obtain it; if not her gun, whose was it?

Apparently the woman didn't pick getting shot.

  6. Well I don't know about Mr. Farago. Go to this link and see how a citizen with a concealed carry license stopped a man with a knife who had already attacked one person and was proceeding to attack an unarmed husband and wife with an infant:

    1. And much to MikeB's delight, the armed citizen with their concealed carry license didn't even have to shoot the criminal.

Uh oh, that could be a problem for MikeB. He seems to think that armed citizens -- especially concealed carry licensees -- are just itching to pull the trigger and pop a cap into a perp.

    2. I don't think ALL of you are like that, just some.

I posted that video just now.

And if someone is crazy enough to kill you, then they're going to care how you'd like it to happen? I read the story, I know what it said happened. But someone who is killing people might be sorta y'know, fucking with their victims, a little bit.

    Cap'n Crunch:

See if you can find a few more, say about 15,000 or so, instances where gunz actually SAVED a life. We'll wait while you look.
