Let's Make Espresso

Iowa, dumber than dirt:

Lawmakers and law enforcement officials in Iowa are debating the merits of issuing blind citizens permits to acquire and carry concealed firearms. The legality of such permits is unquestionable: state law doesn’t allow sheriffs to discriminate on the basis of physical ability. Moreover, as Jane Hudson, the executive director of Disability Rights Iowa, told the Des Moines Register, preventing the blind from the right to obtain weapons or public carry permits would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act.
If Iowans feel this way, they should demand to have blind airline pilots and surgeons service them.

That great safety and terrorist organization, the NRA. actively promotes gun ownership among the blind and physically and mentally infirm.

  1. Iowa requires the passing of a safety course. Those include skills tests. But we can count on gun control freaks to panic.

    1. Greg, do you really think a blind guy can responsibly and safely use a gun? For one thing, how can he be sure of what's behind his target? Shouldn't the physical inability of adhering to the 4 Safety Rules be a disqualifier?

    2. When you're willing to adopt all of Jeff Cooper's ideas, I'll consider giving his Four Rules more force.

    3. You sound like a crybaby again, Greg. What the fuck does my response to ALL of what Jeff Cooper says have to do with anything.

His 4 Rules should have the force of law. Why would you object to that, other then the fact that you're trying hard to be a Libertarian and you oppose laws regardless of their utility.

    4. Cooper's ideas are a package deal. You want to pick out the ones that you can use to reduce gun ownership.

  2. Greggy: as we both know, safety tests--particularly as administered by the NRA are useless.

  3. Nothing says freedom like a blind person with an assault rifle!

BTW, isn't one of the safety rules that you need to be ceratin of what you are shooting at? This seems to go against the Firearms industry's own safety rules--See Number 4:
    http://nssf.org/safety/basics/

"Firing at a movement or a noise without being absolutely certain of what you are shooting at constitutes disregard for the safety of others. No target is so important that you cannot take the time before you pull the trigger to be absolutely certain of your target and where your shot will stop."

So, Greggy, you are saying that you condone unsafe shooting practices?

  4. So I'm assuming now that you are suggesting that the names of blind people be included in the NICS? After all, how else would you prevent them from purchasing?

    1. Well, I covered that in my number 1 gun control law. You remember.

    2. We don't have a national licensing system. We do have a national background check system. So are you saying it's ok to do nothing about the "problem" of blind people owning guns using our current system? That you'd be fine waiting until licensing and registration came into affect?

  6. I'll go along with a wheel chair bound person to own a gun, but a blind person? The priority of shooting, is to be able to see what you are shooting at. Another example why they call you people gun LOONS. There are no limits for you NRA loons. Deaths are acceptable for you to have your right to own a gun. Blind people should have guns. 3 year olds should be taught to shoot and kill. Truly GUN LOONS. There are no limits for you guys, even to accepting mental irrationalities and physical impossibilities.
