Blind People with guns--what could go wrong here?

Giving blind people guns goes against the Firearms industry's own safety rules--See Number 4: http://nssf.org/safety/basics/
"Firing at a movement or a noise without being absolutely certain of what you are shooting at constitutes disregard for the safety of others. No target is so important that you cannot take the time before you pull the trigger to be absolutely certain of your target and where your shot will stop."
This is truly gun insanity--not responsible gun ownership.

Not to mention this is an example of pro-gun Pataphysical Solutions!

  2. To give credit where credit is due, about half the commenters on TTAG agree this is a bad idea.

  3. A blind person can own a gun responsibly. No question. If we are talking about *using* a gun, they are far more limited in how they can use it safely and responsibly because of their handicap, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. A blind person can go to the range with a friend, or even by themselves if they are already proficient (especially at an indoor range). Using a gun for self-defense is more limited still, but again, it's not impossible. There are situations were a blind person can shoot in self-defense and still meet the requirements for safety. Just because they are blind does not mean its firing at "some movement or noise". Do you think a blind woman would not be able to tell if a man is ontop of her raping her? Could she not put a barrel into his chest and fire just as easily as someone with perfect vision? Of course you guys paint this as paranoid blind people saying, "what was that!?" and firing their gun in all directions until slide lock, but that's typical of the way you portrait things.

What about deaf people? Should they be allowed to own/carry guns? If you ask Jadegold, he'll make up a story about how a stranger walks up to a deaf guy and asks, "excuse me, do you have the time?", and gets blown away because he didn't know if he said "I'm going to kill you motherFer!"

What about if our aforementioned rape victim isn't blind, but she is being raped in the dark, or the man is covering her eyes or threw a bag over her head?

  4. I wonder weather the U.S. meets the international criteria for designation as a war zone? Such would imply that at least the Federal Government is a failed State due to the lack of basic protection that it fails to provide it's citizens with.

Considering the international reaction to the current insurrection in Syria, would the rate of killings due to the current policy of the United States government allowing civilians to own firearms, is an international intervention worth considering?

    1. Apparently killing people with guns is ok. It's killing people with gas that is uncouth.

    2. Yeah, that's the message Obama seems to want to send. Frankly, I can't think of a worse message that we could send.

    3. More of the same tripe we haven't heard since E.N. made a run for the DMZ and escaped to freedom--criticizing the U.S. government of being a failed state for "allowing civilians to own firearms," and suggesting a foreign military attack to put an end to such.

Been a while since we heard such fanciful idiocy.
