Most Americans approve of Starbucks' recent request that customers leave their guns behind when visiting their stores, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll.
According to the new poll, 57 percent of Americans approve of Starbucks' new policy asking that gun owners not carry weapons into its stores, even in states with laws permitting open carry. Thirty-two percent disapprove.

ReplyDeleteLaci,
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind that the letter of appeasement from Starbucks means nothing in real terms. If someone is carrying, they wont be refused service or asked to leave. And of course, it is satisfying neither side of the debate.
"The AP was provided a picture of a memo to Starbucks employees on Tuesday. Partners are instructed not to confront customers or ask them to leave solely for carrying a weapon."

"Starbucks' new policy stops short of a ban, and Moms Demand Action will continue to pressure the company if there are additional instances of accidental shootings and open carry rallies inside stores. "

Also please remember that the people involved in the accidental shootings that occurred in Starbucks were NOT carrying legally. So their policy really had no bearing in them.
The percentage is a mixture of strongly and somewhat support Starbucks's request, and it's in a poll that asks about open carry, including in the question about the coffee chain. It's interesting to note that 52% in the same survey said that people would be safer or just as safe as they are now if more people carried guns with them.
ReplyDeleteI take it Laci didn't look at the whole survey.
Personally, I use FMJ or NATO Ball ammo for target shooting with my pistol and AK-47. But mostly only "military use" calibers have that option for obvious reasons.
