arma virumque cano (et alia)
“The short answer is because hungry people eat them and because I’m a hunter,” he said. “You know, I’m not an elephant hunter. I’m a hunter. I hunt all things.”
Of course, the hunt, the chase is part of it. What's your point?
Mike, take into account that humans have effected the food chain. One of the reasons we have deer hunting is that humans have had an effect on the predators that kept the deer population in check. When the deer population gets to high, we start getting more car-deer accidents, so culling the herd keeps the population down so fewer people lose money from these accidents. It comes out as a plus for both sides.
Just like hunting thins (culls) out the gun loons. One is a gun loon if they mistake a man for a squirrel, or a turkey, and kill the man.TR never tried to cite hunger as his reason to hunt game. In fact he usually had his kills stuffed for presentation to prove his manhood. The hunt, the chase, the kill! Man must be greatest game of all. A thinking prey that will shoot back. What a thrill. The ultimate challenge. Set up a man hunt so the loons can get their thrill.
Jim, That has been made a plot in several B movies, this is part of what they call wildlife management. The population has to be controlled since the normal methods have been eliminated due to man's intervention. And yes, many enjoy that aspect of the hunt since animals have their own advantages that ensure that its a contest rather than a sure thing. Are you suggesting by your transferring it to the hunting of people that it's wrong?
DUH!
Jim must be a vegetarian. That's Native American for Sorry Hunter.
