Texas Mom Pulls Gun on 14-Year-old Daughter's Rival During Playground Girlfight

Virianda Alvarez is accused of pointing a gun at the head of student Victoria Myers during a fight the girl was having with Alvarez' daughter at a Texas high school.

Local news reports with video

Mommy brought a gun to a fistfight.

Texas-style justice went too far when a mom tried to sway a playground fight between her 14-year-old daughter and a rival by pointing a handgun at the head of the other girl, video from the incident shows.

Hours after the Tuesday girlfight at a park next to Pasadena High School in suburban Houston — broken up by campus police — Viridiana Alvarez, 33, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after photos and video emerged of the gun-toting mom.

  1. The gun loons answer to anything, just pull a gun. We are supposed to trust that she, or some other gun loon in a similar situation would not pull the trigger? I don't trust that they wouldn't. Pull a gun to stop a playground fight? That gun loon madness.

  2. Easily chalked off to allowing guns on school campuses. What a laughingstock. One of these stupid gun mommies could easily pull the trigger if goaded, challenged or insulted.

    1. Only is wasn't on a school campus FJ.

    2. So, of course, that makes her actions OK, right, SS?

    3. Never said that Sammy, though you do like to read that in to most of what I say. The charges for agg assault look quite justified and Ms. Alvarez will have a chance in court. Even her claim of the gun being unloaded doesn't justify it or make it less serious.

    4. Then why make that stupid point?

    5. I think she's lying about the gun being unloaded, don't you? Why would she have been carrying an unloaded gun?

Although it wasn't on the school grounds, it was close.

    6. I was clarifying something that FJ said. FJ is a pretty regular guy and is likely taking my comment much calmer than you are.

    7. When you make ridiculous statements, I will point it out. But you keep crying, just make4s my point.

    8. Mike,

RE: Carrying an unloaded gun; most of us here would probably agree that carrying an unloaded gun is silly, but people do it. Criminals think it'll make their armed robbery seem less heinous to the jury. Others are afraid of shooting someone but think they can scare them off just by pulling the gun (As hold up's with toy guns show, they may be right in some cases, but what a thing to bet on.)

As SSG said, having the gun unloaded does nothing to reduce the severity in the eyes of the law. It's also unlikely to reduce it in the eyes of the jury, or to be far outweighed by their outrage at her pulling it on a child.

I never cry when you comment Sammy. Most of the time they actually support my comment. Please continue.

Keep making these kind of ridiculous comments, I need a laugh. This is your best "gotcha" point? HA HA HA

  3. It doesn't matter if it was on school grounds, or not, or if the gun was loaded, or not. She pulled a gun to try and stop a stupid playground fight. I understand you don't think there is anything wring with that, you are a gun loon.

    1. I haven't heard anyone here approve of what she did.

    2. Your only point was she wasn't on school grounds, which doesn't make a difference, so YOU are.

    3. You have but to look at my first reply to your comment to see that I don't approve of her actions Sammy,

"The charges for agg assault look quite justified and Ms. Alvarez will have a chance in court. Even her claim of the gun being unloaded doesn't justify it or make it less serious. "

    4. But you obviously stated it would be different if she was on school grounds, or not otherwise you wouldn't have highlighted the difference.

    5. No. Not obviously. I simply corrected FJ in his belief that it was on school grounds. And after you jumped into the fray, I was quite quite clear about my opinion regarding it being illegal.

    6. It's always AFTER with you. To bad, you got caught supporting an unsupportable position. Glad I could highlight it for you so you could clarify and not look so ........Love the way you come back AFTER you have been shown to be wrong, then try to make yourself not look wrong.

    7. "It's always AFTER with you."

My original read of the article, especially with video to back it up was that the charges were appropriate. I merely corrected FJ on something. Then you chose to interpret this into some sort of approval for her actions. Which is as confusing to me as common core math.
Trying to use when you chose to jump into the conversation as a way to show a shortcoming on my part doesn't work.

    8. It's confusing to me that you chose that remark when the woman was obviously out of line. I guess you just want to show a better light even on those who act criminally. It didn't matter if she was on school grounds, or not, so your comment was ridiculous.

    9. It's confusing to me . . .

A vast array of things appear to be "confusing to [you]." That's your problem, not ours.

It didn't matter if she was on school grounds, or not, so your comment was ridiculous.

Then yell at Flying Junior for trying to make this about guns on campus, which is not only, according to you, so unimportant as to be "ridiculous," but dead wrong, as well.

    10. Yes, it is confusing to me why you gun loons protect criminals and refuse to support laws that could curtail gun shot deaths and injuries without infringing on your rights. You should just go to the mountains and join some militia that lives outside the law. ot my problem you are a crimi8nal thinker, but societies.
