Gun Permit

where I had the best laugh of the day. I suppose this means that tough-guy Gds doesn't ever disarm and will never submit to even the slightest restriction on his "rights."

  1. What was the expiration date on that 1st amendment permit?

    1. On this blog we're talking about guns and the 2A. What are you talking about?

    2. I was talking about checking expiration dates, like when you go to the grocery store.

    3. But the First Amendment was written at the same time as the Second. If one is out of date, surely the other is as well.

  2. You laugh at the strangest things, Mikeb. That image is exactly how things ought to be, and it's what we're working for.

    1. That's crap, Greg. Only the most extreme fanatic wants that. NO INFRINGEMENT whatsoever? Is that what you want? I think you've already admitted you don't.

    2. We take away rights from felons on a regular basis, and that fits in to the Constitution. What I've said for a long time is that good citizens have rights, including the one illustrated in that image.

  3. Oh dear, Too bad Justice Scalia disagrees with him:

Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited. From Blackstone through the 19th-century cases, commentators and courts routinely explained that the right was not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose. See, e.g., Sheldon, in 5 Blume 346; Rawle 123; Pomeroy 152–153; Abbott 333. For example, the majority of the 19th-century courts to consider the question held that prohibitions on carrying concealed weapons were lawful under the Second Amendment or state analogues. See, e.g., State v. Chandler, 5 La. Ann., at 489–490; Nunn v. State, 1 Ga., at 251; see generally 2 Kent *340, n. 2; The American Students’ Blackstone 84, n. 11 (G. Chase ed. 1884). Although we do not undertake an exhaustive historical analysis today of the full scope of the Second Amendment, nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. Heller at 54-5

NO wonder the gun control crowd love these decisions so much.

    But It's an individual right

  4. Again, 'the shot heard 'round the world' was about gun control and the citizens opposed it by fighting a war against it.

  5. Mikeb, you had better ask DG, she is the one who said the 'shot' was over the trying to take to confiscate the militia's guns.
Let me know if she was exaggerating or joking.
