Moscow Workplace Shooting - 5 Dead

News 24 reports
"On the morning of 7 November 2012, the suspect came into the office of the pharmaceutical company he works for and fired numerous shots from Saiga and Benelli shotguns that he owns," the statement said.

"As a result, three men and two young women sitting at their desks died on the spot.  "One more man and another young woman were wounded, they are receiving medical help," it said.

The state RIA Novosti news agency, citing a source in the city's law enforcement agencies, said the attacker was suffering from unrequited love and that the woman he had been pursuing was among the victims.  "Because of that he drank for five days and today he came in and opened fire."

Access to firearms is restricted in Russia and shooting sprees are rare.
Did you get that final bit of brilliant reporting. Where guns are restricted, spree shootings are rare.

  1. "Where guns are restricted, spree shootings are rare."

And so are instances where unarmed people successfully defend themselves from criminal attacks.

    1. That's wrong. Tightly restricted guns would allow for lawful and qualified people to own guns for protection.

    2. No, your proposals wouldn't allow that. You've already stated your support for may-issue licensing just to own a gun. Wanting an option for self-defense isn't good enough in may-issue carry license states. We know where your proposals lead.

    3. Do you think Russia has as many legitimate DGUs as the USA? Hell no.

  2. Shooting sprees are also rare here in America. But if you want to live in a nation where journalists are arrested or killed for writing the wrong things, where the leadership is corrupt and elections are meaningless, where civil rights are whatever the leader says they are, feel free to move to Russia.

  3. Mike, their murder rate is about four time ours. Do you consider Russia a win for you guys because there are fewer spree shootings?

  4. Don't bother trying to present actual facts to Mike. It only confuses him when it differs from his closely held world view.

    1. Facts....................such as the fact that events such as this one are a rarity in comparison to the bloodbath that is the American experience? Quit dumping petty insults at Mike whenever reality contradicts the lies which you have been feed.

    2. I’ll pose the same question to you, E.N. How is America a “bloodbath” compared to a country that has four times our murder rate? Please walk us through your thought process.

    3. Oh my god, Frail Liberty, I'm so confused. Please help me understand how the connection between spree shootings and gun restrictions in Russia has something to do with the overall murder rate, which TS says is 4 times ours. I couldn't find that on the list which I've referenced a number of times in pointing out that the UK is 4 times lower than us.

    4. Search for intentional homicide rate. Russia's is four times ours. The point there is that gun control has nothing to do with how many people get murdered. Your side just cares about how they get murdered, no matter what the rate is.
