arma virumque cano (et alia)
Bullying would have to constitute more than voicing opposition to another groups ideas. Many people feel threatened just being around those carrying guns in public, but it is legal.Although I don't understand bringing a gun to a public meeting aimed at protesting an opposing view. I'll never understand why people brought their guns to public health care insurance meetings. Did they need their guns to simply express a viewpoint? Guns alone create a possible danger because they are made to kill. It's not irrational to take extra precautions when guns are present. In fact, I would advise being extra cautious when a gun is present, legal, or not.
If showing up is bullying, then bullying is a term that has lost all meaning. Grow a spine and stand up for what you believe. The attitude of too many gun control freaks is that we all must bow before them, and when we refuse, they call us bullies.
One open carry guy would not have been bullying, but the presence of 40 of them was. It's intimidation plain and simple. No one wants anyone to "bow before them." That's extremely ridiculous even for you, Greg.
With one exception--namely, you, Mikeb--gun control freaks are like Laci and Dog Gone and Japete. They're elitist prigs who fly into a snit when anyone challenges what they say.
Is that a compliment? Or was that just a slick way to insult Laci and Dog Gone? But that still doesn't support your first faulty remark about people wanting others to "bow down before them." That was just stupid and certainly doesn't describe gun control folks.
I totally agree! 20-40 armed people walking into your group gathered to voice an opinion, is a threatening act. Bullying would be an acceptable word usage for such an act.
Mikeb, I've talked to gun control freaks. As a group, you people are haughty and dismissive. You fly into a snit any time someone disagrees with you. You, yourself, happen to be something of an exception, but the rule holds.
Greg, "flying into a snit" is not the same as wanting people to "bow down before them." You said something really stupid before and now you're trying to cover it up.Besides, the other gun control bloggers don't "fly into a snit" when you disagree with them. That's not why many of them don't allow comments. They just don't have the super-human patience I have.
When did the term "bullying" switch to mean those who resist someone taking thing from them?
