  1. Morgan's debate points were England and 9/11? Brilliant!!!

  2. That was painful: two lunatics going at each other. If both of them would shut up, the world would be a better place.

Before Dog Gone comes around yammering, let me say this: I do support their right to say whatever they want.

    1. Come on Greg, it is an entertainment show. Admit it, it was entertaining. ;-)

    2. Something like wrestling--two big meatheads thumping their chests.

    4. Orlin,

This brings to mind a certain Monty Python routine

  3. The only lunatic on the show was Alex Jones. He is a frightening man. He was so aggressive towards Morgan that he almost dealt him a blow right on national television. He bullied and yelled over everything Morgan tried to say. Jones is a primary example of the rampant extremism of the gun lobby. Unfortunately, if the gun lobbyists and extremes encourage him, he gives a bad name to all gun owners. People will be leaving the NRA in droves. It has already started. They are joining the ranks of the majority who believe in what Piers Morgan says. Kudos to him for keeping his temper and being patient in light of the vicious attack against him by the bully, Alex Jones.

    1. Actually, the NRA has seen thousands of new members signing up. Have some people left? Sure. But more have been joining. And have you seen the news reports about the lines at gun shows? I think you are overestimating the size of your group of supporters.

As for Piers v. Alex, I haven't watched this interview--I'll save it for later when I have the time to indulge in some Schadenfreude watching the two try to yell over each other. Alex Jones is a nut and is considered such by most of us.

Piers is also a nut. In the last month, he has brought various gun rights people on his show and proceeded to berate and insult them, shouting over them rather than letting them speak. If he didn't shout over Alex Jones in this video, it's the exception.

    2. T., when you watch the video you'll see what japete said. There was only one nut, and it wasn't Piers.

On TTAG they were very critical of Alex Jones' performance. They seemed to think, and rightly in my opinion, that exaggerated displays like that do the cause more harm than good.

    3. Japete, they're both lunatics, Jones because he sees conspiracies behind every event and Morgan because he wants to create the same. Both of them enjoy the sound of their own voices.

  4. Mike,

I watched it while I ate my lunch. Alex was Alex, and the folks at TTAG are right, over the top yelling only entrenches both sides. That's why I come here and try to focus on rational argument and education.

Yes, Piers was calm and collected in this interview. Credit where credit is due. I just wish he behaved in this way in some of his others--e.g. his yelling insults at Larry Pratt and loudly talking over him was disgraceful.

  5. This is why gunloons won't debate--they're not good at it.

The most common trait of gunloons--aside from small penises and rampant insecurity--is that they do not want to debate, they want to dictate.

Morgan did a great job by just letting this idiot blather on.

Ad hominem and generalization from one example.

"The most common trait of gunloons--aside from small penises"

Hey, and ad hominem attack and penis joke in one!

      "and rampant insecurity--"

Ad hominem and non sequitur--we're insecure because we have guns to protect ourselves from statistically unlikely crimes, but you're not insecure for wanting to change gun control laws to attempt to protect yourself from these same attacks.

"is that they do not want to debate, they want to dictate."

Debate is what I'm here for. I give my opinion and ask for yours, Dog Gone's, Laci's, Mike's, and anyone else who offers it. Please, show up more often and let's have a debate rather than a series of ad hominems and put downs.

"Morgan did a great job by just letting this idiot blather on."

Yes, he did. He had the winning tactics this time.

    2. Goldilocks, I'll debate you or any other gun control freak in any forum that is fair to both sides. What I've seen of blogs on your side is dismissals and blocking of comments. Get your own house in order before you come dictating to us.

    3. Greg, you've got a lot of nerve. You're a heartbeat away from getting 86ed from his blog because of your persistent lies and unfair debating tactics.

    4. What are you talking about? Do you want a list of gun control blogs that don't allow comments or that dismiss without respectful answer any comment that doesn't agree with the official position? What's unfair about pointing out reality?

    5. Mike,

I can't speak to whatever is going on at Jade's blog--haven't spent any time over there and don't know his and Greg's history, but I will say that Greg's comment regarding other gun control blogs is not unfounded.

A couple of years back, I tried to engage Japete on hers. My comments were of the same rational type I've posted here. (Most of my comments here I'll say--I admit I've posted some snide ones when I thought someone was being snide or trollish.)

Some of my comments were allowed to appear, but were never responded to. The last straw for me was when I posted a rational comment and it was not allowed to appear. Instead, a bunch of hateful comments were allowed to appear, followed by a poor me, look how they All treat me post. I checked back over a few days and my comment never was approved since it didn't fit the narrative. That's when I gave up on her blog.

I've seen a good deal of that behavior on other blogs, so the open commenting here is a refreshing change.

    6. Thanks, T., and you've been a welcome addition to what we're trying to do over here, even though you're completely wrong. Ha-ha.
