New Orleans is Much Worse than Chicago

6 comments:

  1. Mike,
New Orleans having more crime than Chicago doesn't necessarily have anything to do with its gun laws. Both cities have serious gang problems which are causing a large percentage of crime seen there.
The city government of Chicago attempted to blame its inability to have an effect on this crime by claiming that its because there are guns there and all they needed was just one more limitation on citizens' rights. They eventually reached the point where the laws were found unconstitutional and the gangs were still doing their thing. So Chicago would be a good argument that strict gun laws don't necessarily equate to lower crime.
So, if it didn't work in Chicago, are you suggesting it might in New Orleans? The old saying about trying the same experiment and expecting different results comes to mind......

    1. The point is it does work in Chicago, at least as much as it can given that Indiana and Ohio are a short drive away. In New Orleans it would work too. Strict gun control laws always reduce crime and violence, they never increase them.

Another point is the continual lying bullshit that your side is responsible for with all the sarcastic remarks about gun control in Chicago obviously not working. Do you really think if Chicago gun laws were like those in New Orleans, there would be less bloodshed?

You have an interesting definition of working. How come other large cities in Illinois with the same state level laws don't have anywhere near the gun violence that Chicago have? Again, that further suggests that strict gun laws don't prevent gun violence. Unless of course you can somehow close the borders since you seem to like to blame the failings of Chicago on other states.
In fact, looking at Illinois, you could actually entertain the theory that strict gun laws in Chicago actually attract gun violence. But in reality, no real correlation.

    3. Chicago has a tremendous problem with gangs and other inner-city problems, much more than other cities in Illinois. I repeat, do you really think if Chicago gun laws were like those in New Orleans, there would be less bloodshed?

    4. Mikeb, what I know is that if Chicago's gun laws made any sense, good citizens could defend themselves legally.

    5. Greg, this is another of your lies. "Good citizens" dying for lack of self-protection firearms is not what's driving the murder stats in Chicago.
