Concealed Carry and Open Carry at U of U

The poor beleaguered gun owners on the University of Utah campus are not satisfied with being allowed to concealed carry, they want more. What is wrong with these people?

  1. Who wants to go to school where you feel carrying a gun is necessary? Maybe Mormons still feel persecuted as in their earlier history.

  2. This is Eu-taw, where gunz are more worshipped than Jeebus or anything else, except $$$. Since their church tells them to make nicey-nice all day, they take it out on their wives and kids and carry guns to prove their manhood. And you don't even want to drive on the freeways here!

  3. Thanks for the comments guys. I agree with both of you. Utah is right up there with Arizona as places I'm glad not to visit.

  4. Wonderful news from Texas!

Texas is preparing to give college students and professors the right to carry guns on campus, adding momentum to a national campaign to open this part of society to firearms.

More than half the members of the Texas House have signed on as co-authors of a measure directing universities to allow concealed handguns. The Senate passed a similar bill in 2009 and is expected to do so again. Republican Gov. Rick Perry, who sometimes packs a pistol when he jogs, has said he's in favor of the idea.

Wonderful to see a vibrant, healthy, progressive gun culture, isn't it? Clearly, morality is not yet dead in this country, the statists' best efforts notwithstanding.

  5. As one of these "crazy" Utah people you all are talking about, I resent all negative comments.

You don't get concealed carry permits out of cracker jax boxes. There is a required class, FBI background check, BCI check, and if you have had any felonies or DUI's you are automatically not eligible.

It is a matter of self defense, which is a right everyone has. If one other kid at VA TEC had a gun that day, it would have been a much different story - and that goes for countless other similar stories.

Us crazy Utahns with these permits to carry on campus are not crazy. We passed our checks, we are family people looking to take control of some probabilities and not become another statistic in some mass casualty school shooting.

BTW, Utah is a beautiful place to visit, gets crowded tho. Please don't come.

  6. David, Thanks for the comment. Please don't be too sensitive about the negative comments. "We passed our checks" is small comfort to some of us who realize that the "we" you're talking about is not 100%. Some of the "we" are irresponsible and dangerous, guys who just haven't been caught at it yet. Our problem is you all look alike.
