Tea Party Republican Arrested with Gun

The San Bernardino County district attorney's office has filed criminal charges against a California lawmaker who attempted to take a loaded gun onto an airplane.

Tim Donnelly, a self-described tea party Republican from San Bernardino, was charged with carrying a loaded firearm in public without a concealed weapons permit and possessing a gun in an airport. Both offenses are misdemeanors, punishable by up to 18 months in jail and $2,000 in fines.
"Misdemeanors?" Does that mean this irresponsible scofflaw will continue to own and use guns?

Please, say it ain't so.

  1. Perhaps you would prefer it like New York where you get charged with a felony for following TSA rules and declaring your firearm.

    1. Sorry, your bias is showing again. The declaring of the gun happened after rules were already broken.

  2. Eighteen months is more than a year, and this is a firearms violation, so it's likely that he won't be a legal gun owner any more. I'm sure that will make you feel better.

    1. Yes he will as the charges are not felonies. Being a convicted felon is what disqualifies you.

    2. Any gun violation as well as any incident of negligence with a firearm should result in disqualification.

Before you put the microscope on that, I'll qualify that I'm not talking about passive violations or white collar type crimes. I'm talking about brandishings and the like, also failure to secure the guns against kids and thieves.

Basically it's my old theory of one-strike-you're-out. And you know what's ironic, you guys who argue against it the loudest would be the greatest beneficiaries.

Are you talking about the idiot who spent FOUR FUCKING DAYS IN NYC with a gun and no permit? Or the idiot who flew into Newark and, being a complete shit-for-brains, didn't bother to find out that what he was doin--carrying his weapon--violated NJ state law. Both of those cases have been discussed. Both guys were completely in the wrong and you know it. Or is there some other shithead out there who's done something that stupid recently?

Thanks for the arithmetic lesson, I'm pretty sure Mikeb302000 already knows, though, how many months are in a year. It would be my guess that the District Atty. knows the difference between misdemeanors and felonies. You never know, though, he might be as dumb as some elitist college English perfessers.

    1. 1. I'm not the one who wants to restrict rights to a few.

      2. My point is that any conviction for a crime that carries a possible sentence of more than a year means loss of gun rights.

    2. Democrates show their biases all of the time, so what of it?...Just look at democommie here, he is so up front with his biases that he's name says it all.
      1) Those who want to restrict our freedoms are the elitists
      2) I suppose you have to be familiar with gun laws to actually debate them :)
