California Woman Accidentally Shot by her Husband - No Charges (Yet?)

A Glendale woman is expected to recover after being shot in the shoulder Wednesday as her husband was clearing a handgun for a safety check, police said.

The woman’s husband, who wasn't identified, was “very distraught” over the shooting, which detectives have preliminarily determined to be accidental.

The wife was standing in the kitchen about 5:30 p.m., while her husband was seated on a couch in their home in Glendale.

As he opened the case containing the .22 caliber handgun to clear it for her brother, who was moving out of their home, it suddenly discharged and struck his wife.

While detectives have initially ruled the shooting to be accidental, they still plan to ask the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office to review the incident.

Did you get that?  The gun "suddenly discharged and struck his wife."

Maybe they should charge the gun. It was obviously not the lawful gun owner's fault.

If its at all possible to charge someone they will be charged. LA is notoriously anti gun. Its also almost impossible to get a carry permit if you live there unless you happen to be a friend or supporter of the Sheriff.

"Tanaka granted Kavanaugh's application in January 2013, authorizing him to carry a concealed Smith & Wesson .380-caliber Bodyguard and a Sig Sauer .40-caliber handgun.
In his email to the Weekly, Tanaka said that granting the permit was consistent with the department's policy. But at the time Kavanaugh applied for the permit, he was hardly facing "clear and present danger": The man who'd threatened him was already in custody.
What Kavanaugh had instead was a cozy relationship with the Sheriff's Department, which included raising more than $150,000 for the Sheriff's Youth Fund.
Applicants without such ties found their applications rejected."

    1. If the investigation is not over, then they lie to say it was an accident; and you agree it's ok for the police to lie about that.
It's disgusting and criminal thinking, for you to say it's ok for the police to lie about a life and death issue. You have no honor.
