Why don't socialists like to be called socialists? And remember, If Christ were here today there is one thing he wouldn't be - a Christian.orlin sellers
Because the are not socialists except for the dishonest right calling them socialists. Liars like you.
Even though I'm not a Christian, I've been impressed with Francis, though he's not the gay-rights advocate that some want him to be. On economics, he certainly comes from the left of the spectrum. How about we be honest and acknowledge that America is a secular nation? That would simplify a lot of discussions.
I thought he made some pro-gay-rights remarks.
He said that gay people should be treated with the same respect as everyone else, but homosexuality is still a sin in official doctrine.
Because it's not, in practice.
He has not made pro gay rights remarks. He has made remarks to the effect that there are more pressing matters than the gay lifestyle and abortion and the Church cannot only discuss those topics. Francis is definitely moving the Church to more of a focus on the poor.
I haven't been following his every word, but I remember early on when asked about homosexuality, he said "who am I to judge." I thought that was pretty significant coming from a Pope.
Like hes predecessor, the Pope refuses to release documents that identify molesters in the Church and other information that could protect children and are evidence of the Church's cover up of child molestations. Just another dirt bag covering for his members felony behaviors.
"The Shoes of the Fisherman"Put your money where your mouth is.
A movie where the Pope gives the church riches to the starving of the world, to avoid military attacks on those countries who have enough food, by those who do not.
I think he's already doing this by admonishing his bishops and cardinals to avoid their usual opulent lifestyles.
Not quite the same as giving the riches of the church away. He has made no policies cutting their opulent lifestyles, it is only a request.
Well, seeing as protestants not so subtly state that the Pope has no authority over them, it doesn't shock me that they'd feel no need to defend him
I haven't followed this Duck Dynasty thing at all. I never watched any part of the show, and I don't know what the guy even said. But I was at a LGBT banquet the other night and this came up. Interestingly enough, no one at my table was offended by this guy, and everyone was more irritated by the social media pushing so hard how they were supposed to be offended. "OMG, a Christian thinks I am a sinner [gasp]." So is pre-marital sex, debauchery, masturbation, coveting thy neighbor's wife, etc., and the official Christian doctrine states that no one is without sin.
